Interesting store to say the least! They have great Irish knickknacks and some things that brought back some great memories that I hadn't seen in a long time! One of the lady's working there really made my friend uncomfortable to the point where he waited for me outside :( he said because he was black she kept staring at him like he was going to steal. This is why I didn't give them more stars but the products were great!
I had a great experience the first time I went. I bought myself and my daughter a few pieces of jewelry. Hers didn’t fit so I went back and asked to exchange the size. I pointed out that the tag said size 4.5 and the box said size 5. I was told under no circumstance could I have a new size, exchange, refund or store credit. Even though I had the tag with it and had purchased it less than a week prior. If I had been told this prior to purchase, I would have had my daughter come with me to try it on.(Which the sale person who was there insisted that someone must have told me, even though she was not there when I made my purchase) Also, I thought because it was their error on the sizing , that they would correct their mistake. As a manager of a store, this is not how you keep customers. I had even brought my husband in to make a large purchase and ended up just leaving. Such a disappointment. As a result, I went on Amazon and purchased a new identical ring from the Irish Store Online. They provide exchanges and refunds if something doesn’t fit or you just don’t like. Just an FYI.
Today, I drove almost an hour after checking The Irish Walk's website that stated on the gillies page that they are IN STOCK. I had to pay for parking in a garage in Old Town Alexandria and 8 months pregnant walk to the shop, which would have been worth it had I been able to purchase. I asked to purchase gillies and was asked if they were for me. I explained they were for my daughter's class later this afternoon. The woman told me that she could not sell me the shoes because my daughter was not with me! I told the woman I brought my daughters shoe with me and know her measurements. She went on to tell me that the gillies are in Irish sizes (yes, I know) and that the gillies are non returnable. So she would not sell them to me. She said my daughter's school should have told me to bring my daughter. I came on my own with no recommendation from her dance school. I came all this way for the convenience of getting them this day. I understand the gillies are not returnable and I had no intention of doing that, but to be refused a sale because my daughter was at school and not there?? That risk should have been my call to make as a customer. They could easily refuse a return. The woman just shrugged at me after I explained everything. So rude. Also, I just checked the gillies page on their website and magically it now says OUT OF STOCK! I would absolutely NOT recommend this overpriced shop.
They have a good mix of kitsch and class. My wife got a really nice sweater here.

They have a good selection of both traditional Irish souvenirs like dishes, figurines, clothing, and also party and parade apparel like tshirts, hats, decorations. I bought a traditional wool flat hat in dark green tweed but I'm old and party stuff and jokes don't interest me
