was established in 2004 by the current U.S. Olympic and National Coach Andrey Geva. Alliance’s staff includes 8 professional coaches and 4 assistant coaches who have learned the Olympic sport of fencing in Cuba, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the United States. Our Academy provides fencing instruction to over 300 members of all ages and levels in Houston and in The Woodlands, as well as an opportunity to train with the area’s finest coaches and international level athletes from around the World. We ensure our coaches and staff promote good sportsmanship on and off the strip providing a rewarding experience that will build confidence, reinforce teamwork and inspire the personal growth necessary for your child to take their next steps in life. Fencing is an Olympic and an NCAA Sport with scholarship opportunities available for fencers at some of the nation’s top universities Fencers have a distinct advantage when it comes to college applications. 32% of male fencers and 38% of female fencers go on to fence in college. Compare that to football (7.8%) or basketball (5.9% male, 6.3% female). Fencing is extremely safe. This is a sport that has little risk of serious injury while offering important benefits that will help your child grow with confidence, discipline, quick-thinking, and respect Fencing is a life-long sport where physique and age are not limitations. Alliance is one of the largest and most successful epee clubs in nation with over 300 fencers who practice daily in our two locations, Houston and The Woodlands Alliance is the 2019 USA Fencing Club of Excellence Winner and recipient of the President’s Award for International Success Alliance is home for two Senior Team World Champions, London Olympics bronze medalists, and Rio Olympians sisters Courtney and Kelley Hurley Alliance is home for the Cadet World Champions Ariel Simmons and Sean Wilson, Senior and Junior World Cup Champion Anna Van Brummen, U.S. Senior National Champion Francesca Bassa, Senior World Cup Finalist Jack Hudson, and several other Cadet (under 17) and Junior (under 20) world championship medalists Alliance is home to the U.S. Olympic Team Coach Andrey Geva whose primary responsibility is to lead the women’s epee teams for the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Coach Geva was named by the US Olympic Committee as the 2006 Developmental Coach of the Year Alliance is home for high level professional coaches from Cuba, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the United States. Many of our fencers have received athletic and academic scholarships to top US universities. Alliance fencers have been selected as Division 1 varsity athletes for NCAA fencing teams at Princeton, Stanford, Columbia, Duke, University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern, Penn State, Ohio State, Brandeis, Temple, the Air Force Academy, and many more Our fencers have earned over 30 medals in various international competitions including World Championships, Zonal Championships, and the Olympic Games 34 of our fencers are USA national champions across various age categories and over 60 are competitively ranked in the U.S. national points standings
