I've tried big river 2-3 times over the past year or so. Each time I leave totally blown away by the fact that they charge 10-15 dollars a plate of tough, overcooked, sub-par food. However, I was never motivated to write a review until yesterday when I dropped 40 dollars there for one of the worst meals I've ever had in Chattanooga. I paid 10.50 for the most miserable looking calamari appetizer I'd ever seen, it looked and tasted more like french fried onions than seafood. The broccoli served with my entree was put on my plate in whole spears and was so tough that they couldn't be cut with a knife and fork. The chicken would've been acceptable as airline food, but extremely disappointing for a 15 plate. To top it off, our waitress didn't even bring us our silverware until our entrees had been already sitting in front of us for 2-3 minutes. So, in short, the food was something I would've expected from an airport Applebees, and the service was borderline non-existent. How they stay in business - I have no idea.
