To start positively I liked Brooklyn Boulders as it was my first time really doing any type of rock climbing since I was a child. At around 50 for 90 minutes I feel like I could recommend this place for beginners to get their fill of trying it out. Even with the time I was there, there were many climbers who clearly were advanced and had a lot of experience and could have fun testing out different leveled walls. There’s a good number of walls and courses and they are marked with starting spots and color coordinated rocks and tape. The only thing stopping me from giving this place two stars is the employee who actually was kind and patient to my group. He explained stuff and walked us around the gym. Otherwise when walked in we accidentally walked through the wrong door and got yelled at. Checking in no one was welcoming or explained anything. I was given shoes and a harness that I didn’t even know how to put it on. For it being my first time I don’t even know the differences with the harnesses and ropes and it was like the front desk just expected me to know. For the most part different people and groups were courteous of our space and the mask policy and still repeatedly everyone got yelled at over a speaker for being too close. So many employees had an attitude and were overall rude or just ignored us. I work at a gym and I would never want someone who walks in to not feel welcomed, so that put a huge damper on things. If they really wanted people to space out more, they wouldn’t have classes (max 30) that overlap that could have up to 90 people in the den at once.

We really appreciate the helpful staff at this location. There was a mix up with BB Queensbridge and they quickly sent us over here for my daughter to complete her competition climb. When we got here, they made sure we were checked in quickly and waived our climbing fee because of the hassle that was caused. They also explained the climbs to us and answered a ton of our questions. I would recommend this place for experienced climbers. There are plenty of climbs and lots of climbers to connect with. I would not know what the experience would be for new climbers. This gym is fairly busy but not any more busy than others across NYC. Tip: book ahead online and also complete the waiver online before you arrive

When we first arrived, I asked the front desk if someone could help us since it was our first time rock climbing but was told we would need a private session for that, not helpful at all. But luckily we met Jacob who offered to show us around. He was amazing and very patient with my autistic nephew. Those few minutes he spent teaching us were so helpful. Most of the walls were off limits due to a competitions going on so that sucked.

climbing walls for different skill levels. Lot's of bouldering walls and a few autobelay machines for solo climbers. Nice place to come with kids to get them into climbing. Also has weights and a ping-pong table. Seems like a good place to socialize with other climbers for those who are into that sort of thing.
