Carpenter Lake Preserve is absolutely one of the better kept secrets in the metro area. The entrance features a striking rock garden that was a lot of fun for kids to walk around and climb on. The trails themselves are very well maintained and wide enough to not feel crowded on. There are a good number of benches many great views of the eponymous lake. All in all this was a great way to spend even a chilly winter day outside of the house.

A gem! My kids had a blast here - we could have spent hours just playing in the rock area, even in cold weather. A really special place. Awesome geocaches here too. As a special challenge, see if you can find the old car in the woods.

Two different awesome areas on one property. 1. A mini stone mountain area, fun for kids and adults to climb on. Biggest rocks I’ve seen in Michigan, and a Stonehenge lookalike! 2. The other area is a beautiful walking path in the woods, and a really nice boardwalk near the ma made lake. With 500 reviews and 4.6star rating I thought it was a hoax, too good to be true. But, it’s the real deal! I don’t know the historical story, but it was great!

A nice nature preserve park which is very near to the city. A small hike of 1 mile covers the entire park. We could spot the deers when we visited in the middle of the day. The place is great to get kids and have some nature time. Overall a very nice experience

Nice easy walk, easy to read trails and lots of places to rest if needed. The rock garden was really cool!
