After interviewing multiple doulas in Chicago, my husband and I are so glad we chose Birthways. Claire was the perfect doula for us, a terrific combination of experience, expertise, humor, and calm demeanor that gave us the reassurance we needed every step of the way, especially during COVID when we could not have other support with us at the hospital. There can be an overwhelming amount of information and decision making surrounding birth, and Claire helped us keep things in perspective and take it all one thing at a time. In our prenatal zoom visits she helped me verbalize my overall priorities instead of a detailed birth plan. I never felt pressured to have one type of birth from Claire, i.e. unmedicated, home, atural\ birth, which helped me avoid a sense of failure and feel more empowered. I'd also recommend her mindfulness birth course for the same reasons. Claire was excellent support for us when I went into labor, helping us to know it was really happening, supporting us to labor at home as long as felt comfortable and safe, and helping us get out the door to the hospital in the middle of the night. I felt she had the perfect balance of building rapport with the healthcare providers in the hospital, but also a firm advocate for me when I needed support, exactly as we expected from our discussions during prenatal visits about our preferences. It was a relief to have someone we felt knew us well there with us in the hospital seeing us through the entire process. I also appreciated her staying to help me establish breastfeeding, and connecting me with the lactation consultant at Birthways. We appreciated that she gets the flu vaccine every year, and that she doesn't have a high caseload of clients, something not every doula in the area we spoke with practices. I believe Claire's support made a huge difference in my positive birth experience. We highly recommend Claire and Birthways!

We loved working with Megan (and Birthways) for our recent labor and delivery. While things did not go as planned (what birth does?), having Megan there before and after the birth was really comforting for us. She's also been super responsive to questions/concerns that came up during my pregnancy and now that we're home with our newborns. Would definitely recommend Birthways if you're thinking about a doula for your birth experience!

Thanks to Claire and Leah, I had an unbelievable birth experience. They were instrumental pieces to the puzzle that lead me to have a unmedicated natural birth that I hoped for. COVID protocols didn’t allow them to come to the hospital, but Leah was on Zoom the whole time and helped me through every contraction. They helped prepare me for birth and continue to support me postpartum.

Can't recommend the Childbirth Prep Course enough. So happy my husband and I took this course. It was a huge eye opener, with TONS of research, videos, stats, and overall extremely useful information. I feel as though I am far more prepared after this course, far more than reading dozens of books and going to other midwifery classes. My husband keeps raving about the class as well. Highly recommend this childbirth prep class and Mary is so beyond knowledgeable and experienced, you will NOT be disappointed.
