Visited Ras Dashen for the first time last week and absolutely loved it. The service was nice and friendly. The restaurant was packed, so it took a while to get our food. Once the food arrived, we weren’t disappointed. I look forward to returning!
Always delish! No indoor eating, only outdoor dining. I do prefer this Ethiopian place for its indoor ambiance and more intimate lighting & environment more than the others but hey what’s most important to me is the FOOD /and service, both of which were lovely! Wish I had some leftovers right now!
This was my first Ethiopian experience. Didn't really know what to order so it was mostly a blind guess. They had recommendations for how much to get for new comers which was a big help and accurate. We got 3 veggie items (totally random) and a main dish (lamb). Everything was so good, super flavorful and made to order. There was an option to get Gluten Free teff (bread for dipping) to go with all the sauces and my wife had no issues eating here. You could easily made a meal getting a bunch of the veggie items.
Sooo delicious and flavourful. I'm no stranger to Ethiopian food and this was in my top 3 favorites. I've eaten ethiopian in different states and different countries. I will be back very soon
I've been eating here since I was 12 years old. I ordered some spinach sambusa and a veggie platter and it was all delicious.
First, let me note - this is my favorite restaurant. BUT I will say if you ever order food to go from here and order the gluten free injera (teff injera), have them check to make sure they've given you the right kind before you leave. We’ve been going to this restaurant for years, but three different times now I've ordered teff injera only to get home to find exclusively regular injera in my bag. Each time I've called to report the issue and ask for some type of partial refund or discount for next time and each time they say they will get back to me and never do. Once, they assured me it was teff injera, even though we knew it was not. This isn’t just an issue of preference for teff injera—it’s due to a gluten allergy. I really hope Ras Dashen can take more care in the future when it comes to following through with providing the right kind of injera for those with such allergies. Luckily, I can spot the difference between teff and regular injera (teff is much darker in color and less fluffy than regular injera). Still, a customer who doesn’t know the difference could get seriously sick due to a mistake like this. I truly love this restaurant so much—I can’t find anywhere with better Ethiopian food—but I definitely think their service could improve.
OMG!!! The food today was outstanding. We have been coming to Ras Dashen for almost 15 years as we love it, and today was probably one of our best experiences. The chef's daughter Maritu who cooked today's lunch today would make her grandmother and mom v v proud. I was shocked how quickly we finished our Doro Wat, Veggie Sampler and Gluten free injera. Like a perfect score, the chef hit every note out of the park.
