Let me start with the positive. It was a great way to get my son outside learning about history,, without a bunch of people around during the pandemic. We got to be outside in the sunshine walking around, getting fresh air, and spending quality time together. There was a very cute little store that sold drinks, snacks and souvenirs, in its side yard are extremely clean bathrooms that you can use for free, but there is a tip jar which helps with keeping them clean (not required but appreciated). The side yard of the little store also had some chickens running around and goats in a pen which was cute. The negative is: Most of the older buildings are falling apart, even the old Church that was restored in 1949. I don't understand why they want a piece of history to be gone forever, but unfortunately that is what's happening. It's not a bad place if you're wanting to get outside and explore rather than staying trapped inside staring at the same 4 walls day in and day out.

Do you want to hear a ghost story? Drive down the abandoned street with the old post office and just feel the history. By the time you get to the end of the street you'll feel like you are a part of the ghost story! But don't forget to look up at the last house on the left. In the upstairs window, where all the spirits are safely locked behind, pay close attention to the one soul that couldn't quite make it all the way out with its life. And then you'll the stories, aren't just that of fiction. Good luck sleeping at night after that.
A ghost town in the middle of Chinese Camp. Pretty cool, if you like ghost towns. It could use a little TLC.
Derelict and rundown, sadly. The history is interesting but what a pity no one sees the importance of preservation. Even the lovely little church on the hill which I saw in the beautiful glowing light of sunset is falling into dereliction.
