Smoky Mountain Trader is the PhD of hiking and camping supplies store! This is definitely worth the trip into town if you want to get REAL service from some of the most knowledgeable staff I've ever met. I popped into the store today to try on several pair of hiking shoes and boots. I'm an avid hiker and have a pretty high bar when it comes to what I wear on my feet. Daubrey is amazingly well-versed in hiking footwear and took the time to educate me on how each brand is designed and what options would likely suit me best. He started by taking a proper measurement of my feet, then brought me shoe after shoe to try on. He categorized the \likes\ in order, making it easier and easier to narrow down what was a good fit for me. Shoe preferences are very subjective, but Daubrey used his wealth of experience and intuition to make the process easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend a visit to this store!
