I have plots in two community gardens: Presidio and Chaverim. One of the gardens is by my house and the other is near my gym. CGT provided me with all the knowledge and tools to get up and running. They provide water, plots and tools and you provide the labor. There are monthly meetings to compare notes and share knowledge although not all gardeners are diligent in attending.

Depends on which garden you join, where it is, and who are the managers. We love ours and the community that gardens there. Our vegetables are the best from any place we have ever grown, and our plants are extremely prolific. We have had over 30 pounds of delicious peas from eight plants this past season and they are still producing. The managers (husband and wife) are there almost every day and very conscientious about taking care of everything. We are full now and don't have any more plots available for spring/summer. It's worth finding the right location if you want to join.
