It is really fun. The learning does not "suck" and there are not too many rich kids there. It is not like the middle schools in the movies where there are flying paper airplanes and bullies. The teachers are all young and have a good sense of humor, but they tend to be strict now and then. We do pep rallies and end of year parties. Each class experience is very different because teachers are so different in their style of teaching and thinking. In journalism, we get to listen to music to get creative and in science, we have to challenge ourselves constantly to make real world connections. Our bell and lunch schedule are pretty fair. All of the core classes are pretty challenging, but easy if you study for the occasional exams. The electives are all really fun and interesting as well.Gym and health are tougher since you have to change out in the locker rooms, but there are bathroom stalls if you feel uncomfortable changing in front of others. In gym, you have to do fitness tests and training and a lot of fun games like Volley Ball or Capture the Flag. Health is easy too if you really take good notes and pay attention to the teacher.

If I could give this school 6 stars I wouldn't but 5 is deserving. They serve lunch, they have teachers, and the education provided is pretty good. It's a really big school with a lot of students and trailers. Hungry Ethiopians Never Taste Anything Interesting

I went to this school all three of my middle school experience. This is the school that made me who I am and I am very grateful for it. I made some of my closest friends here, that I am still friends with now. The teachers are definitely beyond compare. They are by far the best teachers you could ever had! I wish I could spend the rest of my career sitting in their classes; however, that is not possible so I encourage other people to come here. The problems that many other reviewers bring up are interesting. For one, I never ate school lunch, so I have no problem with it. Furthermore, the problems with the other students is not necessary a problem of the school. Instead I find that parenting plays a large factor into how children behave at school and interact with other people, I am not blaming any parents, just stating that the school was not meant to raise your kids, just to teach them and that manners are necessary to succeed. All the teachers that I have had the privilege to learn under have been the best and always try to help me succeed in all that I do.

Sure, the school has some good teachers and classes, decent curriculum, though god bless the souls who come to the cafeteria with no lunch. but through all my 3 years in this school, I never expected my privacy to be ridden of me and to be consistently monitored. We live in a age where technology is at its peak and is constantly used, to be watched over like this is demoralizing, they have no plan for the risks, what are they going to do if a teacher takes advantage of this?

It's a real good middle school experience. Education wise I think it's great! Most the teachers have fresh ideas to learn and some teachers are strict but that's how most schools work. One of the problems are that some of the classrooms are outside and it's hard for students to go to inside and out for stuff like gym and orchestra (again all school). Sometimes homework could get hectic but the some teachers are considerate at times :).

CHMS is an AMAZING school! I totally would recommend your child going here. If you do your work on time, listen in class, study, you'll do just fine! Homework isn't THAT bad... especially in eight grade. Most of the teachers here are so kind and caring to the students! The teachers really do put in a lot of effort for the students. However, the boy's bathroom was always so dirty in the afternoon (not that it was the janitor's fault or anything). The cafeteria food wasn't that great in my opinion, either. Also, I did witness some bullying at this school -- but the school counselor's were very kind and supportive - so don't feel nervous to ever talk to them! Overall, I really will miss this school. If you're going to be going here, trust me: There's nothing to be afraid of. :) Good luck!

The food is great! Lobster on Monday, Filet Mignon on Tuesday, Lasagna on Wednesday, Surprise Thursday, and Buffet Friday. Teachers are very supportive and love to give rewards to students when they succeed. They have recess for 4 days a week for 45 minutes to support healthy activity. If we can't go outside, we stay inside and learn how to be healthy. Overall, everyone is nice, very little bullying, and teachers are very supportive. I would highly recommend going here.

I used to go to Catholic School and I now go here. Community House is in my opinion the best school in Charlotte. Back at Catholic School I had no respect because I'm Asian and there were always fights and extreme racism, but now I feel respected and that I fit in. The lunch food is great and inexpensive, the education is better than any private school that I've been to, and the students are much more mature.
