We went to lunch and I started asking what he had learned and how it related to my lack of understanding of the internet and website ownership in general. What my friend told me was quite compelling. He explained how search engines really worked and how many different criteria were involved in getting your site to show up in the searches when people were looking for a product or service like yours. I was very impressed with the level of understanding my friend had acquired in a relatively short period of time. So I posed the question. “ How much would it cost to get my website to show up for some related searches in my industry”. He said he was unsure but agreed to do some work on the idea for the cost of materials. I have a small farm that I have converted into a business of sorts. Posted on August 4, 2016August 28, 2016 Categories Uncategorized Doom and Gloom  Are you getting as tired as I am of the global doom and gloom forecast “?  You know, the one where we are going to have a worldwide financial collapse and everyone’s savings are going to be wiped out………………… I am a bit tired of this story as well !  However, to be fair, I have my nose in the geopolitical news constantly and I suppose I have become a bit jaded over the last 20 years. I am no stranger to political news of the controversial type since I am the owner of a precious metals dealership. Here’s a shameless plug for my company Durham Precious Metals. ( Check out my website )Oh…….  If you are a precious metals buyer you may or may not suffer from the same overload syndrome, but I can bet you know your way around the globe when it comes to financial news. I started out exclaiming that I was tired of the doom and gloom reporting.  Let me state a caveat, at this point, that narrows down the reasoning behind this statement.  Stay with me, this is important. It’s not the news itself that bothers me, I expect the news to report the events of the globe with a somewhat sensationalized slant.  That includes the alternative news from the internet, which I have failed to mention is my default source for info.  ( I thought that was implied )  It’s not that I disagree with the forecast details or the story in general.  It would be difficult for anyone with any common sense not to see warning signs on the horizon, given the current state affairs.  It’s not that I have an axe to grind with any of the various personalities that are representing the news.  You know who I mean. Mike Maloney, Jim Rickards, Jim Sinclair, Bill Holter etc.  I love these guys. They do a great job of educating and distilling down grand concepts so that people with a less sophisticated knowledge base can grasp them.   It’s not any of the above with which I have an axe to grind.  IT”S THE NUMBERS !!! Or more specifically the idea that silver and gold prices could hit some astronomic dollar figure like  $100 plus and $15,000 plus respectively. My axe to grind is more specifically this….  When someone in a position of authority puts out a statement such as ” gold is going to hit $10,000 an ounce “…….when they repeat this statement consistently over a period of years…..when they know full well that there are thousands upon thousands of ordinary folks hanging on those words, and when they are often owners of bullion dealerships as well……they owe it to those followers to temper these statements with some prudence. I don’t disagree that the numbers are wrong , in case that’s the impression I am conveying. They could prove accurate in the final judgement. However, it occurs to me through experience that when ordinary mortals hear numbers that represent multiple fold gains on an investment they tend to go deaf to reason.  So when we start with that end in mind we do them a disservice.  We need to be curators of peoples’ expectations when we have any semblance of authority attached to ourselves.  I own a small bullion dealership in Ontario Canada. When people come to my store they want to know what I think because apparently they see me as a source of authority. In relative terms, I suppose that I am. For this reason, I am always careful to make sure that when I give my opinion about the precious metals industry and it’s direction, I am serving their interests.  So here is my bottom line for silver and gold as an investment. ( This is where I start stepping on guru’s toes !!!)  1) Silver and gold at their foundation are a savings vehicle…   2) As a savings vehicle, they become an “arms length ” barrier to impulsing spending…  3) They also help offset losses to inflationary forces that are ” baked in ” to fiat currency…  4) Silver and gold could see significant gains in nominal terms relative to their current purchasing power…  5) Precious metals could see multiple fold percentage gains in the event of a global economic crisis. So why is it important that we place this priority ranking on our reasoning for owning precious metals?  Because it will affect our decision making going forward.  Think about it. If your reasoning for buying in the first place is because you think that the price is going to increase fivefold in the next year, you will be sorely disappointed when the market does not live up to this expectation.  When this occurs, it will cloud your judgement as to what the next move should be. Just like building a house , it is important to set it on a good foundation. The foundation of any decision making in life is the mind. When we start with the least likely predicted outcome as the premise for our initial action , we have a weak foundation. Think about this. When we buy gold or silver we are really making an exchange. An exchange of one form of money to another. Unlike purchasing a car which will inevitably wear out and eventually be crushed into a recycle cube, gold and silver last virtually forever. They can be re-exchanged for paper money at any time in the future.  In the meantime, they can’t be spent on impulse like the paper or digital currency can be. This may seem like a very small reason for owning a hunk of metal but let’s face it, money burns a hole in most peoples’ pocket.  By exchanging currency for metals we not only remove the instant urge for spending, we preserve the exchange against inflation and as an added bonus we stand a chance at being the recipients of multiple fold returns “IF” the price of metals goes into the stratosphere as many are predicting. Oh….did you think that I was a naysayer? Did it appear as though I disagree with the potential for gold and silver to hit record highs in our lifetime? Certainly not. I just think it’s a poor foundation for which to base our reasoning for buying. Start with the most likely outcome. Based on 6000 years of recorded history, gold and silver have preserved purchasing power and have acted as the primary source of money for all but recent history.  There unique ability to act as insurance against financial uncertainty is unprecedented. In this article we’re referring to the controversy as the “Cowboy Controversy” (as indicated in the title). While there are several web designers in Tennessee, Nashville Web Design is among the highest requested. The reason for this is because of their extensive experience and skill in the field of search engine optimization. They use their SEO skills to get their website at the top of Google and thus receive the most traffic and recognition. The “controversy” surrounding this company is that they primarily use premium WordPress themes for their lawyer websites while other professionals have spent thousands at places to learn web design so that they could code websites from scratch. This has become upsetting for some of the professionals who hand make every website that they work on, spending countless of hours and coming up with an end product that looks nowhere near as good as the websites produced by Nashville Web Design. Some businesses may argue that this is simply fair business practice and that the techniques and skills that were once required to design a website in the 90’s have become somewhat antiquated and obsolete. While others may argue that a handmade website is a better designed website. This is really only a matter of opinion of the person viewing the website. While accusations have been thrown at Nashville web design, their CEO has spoken out and still claims that they are a web design company with integrity and that their reviews speak for themselves. This is a point that really can’t be argued! These legendary cowboy web designers have really just found a way to produce what people want at less cost and labor. Although the quality of code may not be up to snuff with some of the custom made websites, it seems their customers are happy with that. With that being said, Nashville Web Design is really one of the smartest web design companies in the state of Tennessee. We tip our hats to those rebels, those cowboys and those innovators. We’re sorry to know that some people who have worked hard to learn code and design are not succeeding, but more than likely their lack of success is only in their lack of knowledge of SEO. Taking a few simple courses in search engine optimization and search engine marketing might turn the tables and wind up putting Nashville Web Design at the bottom of the food chain. This is one of the reasons we have chosen acting as a profession. It is a medium which allows a person to fully express themselves through a variety of scenarios and situations. In order to get to the heart, or “truth” of a character, one has to reach deep into the depths of one’s psyche to bring about a particular emotion which relates to the character one is attempting to portray. Although this may seem like an easy task it can be difficult for some. For one, it requires a tremendous amount of focus, memorization, concentration and emotion which can be mentally and emotionally exhausting on an individual. Certain roles can have a draining effect on an actor’s energy and mental health. They can also affect the psyche, personality, and overall well-being. Although this may seem like an easy task it can be difficult for some. For one, it requires a tremendous amount of focus, memorization, concentration and emotion which can be very emotionally exhausting on an individual. Certain roles can have a draining effect on an actor’s energy and mental health. They can also affect the psyche, personality and overall well-being  of a performer. Many actors may appear happy and well-adjusted members of society when actually they suffer from manic depression, anxiety, and mild psychosis. Some even develop personality disorders and a dependency to alcohol and drugs, both illegal and pharmaceutical which can have devastating effects on their lives and careers as well as the lives of their families and friends. Being an actor is like attending a fancy dress party absolutely naked. Everyone is watching you as you bare your soul and deepest emotions for the world to view. Although being an actor, like any profession can have it’s drawbacks, there are also many rewards to it as well. One of these rewards is that you have the ability to make someone feel emotion themselves which can, in turn, brighten their mood just by entertaining them. Lifting a person’s spirits by making them laugh or smile is a very rewarding feeling and can have many health benefits to both the viewer and the actor. Whether you are making them feel joy, happiness, sadness, anger, empathy or compassion the very act of changing a person’s mood is very powerful and is the primary job of an actor. To engage the audience and bring them into a world of make-believe is only done by discovering the truth of a character. The truth is what motivates an actor and is what makes good actors great. When there is no truth in a performance there is no emotion given which in turn leaves the audience unmoved and uninterested. If this happens then the actor has not done their job properly and is merely delivering memorized dialogue to a crowd instead of being in the moment and reacting naturally. The greatest and most effective actors aren’t actually acting at all, they are reacting to another actor or situation they are in at the present moment. If we wanted actors to be any different than this we would be being disingenuous. Acting is serendipitous in so many ways and is an expression of the human condition. Many times art can imitate life and vice-versa.  Acting is a career many actors feel chooses them and not the other way around. Everyone is a bit of an actor in their everyday lives. We act when we go to our jobs, school or social gatherings.
