The Kevin Bills Memorial Dog Park is the first ever off-leash dog park in Council Bluffs. HOWEVER it does require a membership to access use. You register through Midlands human society. It has a small dog side along with a bigger dog side. Though all dogs are welcome on either side. Added bonus is poo bags are located for free along fence line. - access to water and bowls -Lots of balls for dog play -keyed entry for safety and 24 hour access

After witnessing Midland’s Humane Society adopt out a cat that belonged to another family... An owner who has been actively searching for this cat in the community and on every channel while also searching all Humane Society’s. This cat was not anywhere to be seen and suddenly posted that it was for sale. The owners tried contacting multiple times to have it held so they could pay to get him back and they adopted the cat out anyways. This Humane Society did nothing to fix the situation or contact the new owners and make it right. Therefore, I will not support them and I will ensure that everyone knows about their ethics. What a horrible experience for this family. When approached about it, they completely ignore the owners and continue to delete messages to hide what happened.

I adopted a kitten on 11/6/2020 and was so excited! The adoption process was fast and easy and I love my new kitten. The problem is, after I got her home I noticed a spot where fur was missing between her right eye and ear. I took her to the Vet to get her checked out and was informed she has ringworm. I was under the impression that since the kitten was up to date on shots, was fixed, and microchipped, that she had been receiving care from a vet throughout her time at Midlands and while she was in foster care. I guess I assumed the kitten had a clean bill of health with no noticeable problems since she was up for adoption. As it is, I'm currently dealing with needing to isolate the kitten in one room, disinfecting my entire house because the kitten was initially everywhere, and hoping and praying my 21 year old cat does not get ringworm. There is also the vet bills, cultures, and cost of the medication I need to give the kitten, and possibly my other cat (So far up to about 500). I knew getting a kitten is not cheap, but this cost was totally unexpected. I'm going to do what it takes to take care of this kitten and protect my other cat, but I'm super disappointed. I did call Midlands to inform them of the situation, because my kitten was part of a litter of four. I can only assume the other kittens have it as well since it is so contagious. Lesson learned: thoroughly examine any cats you consider adopting for skin conditions, otherwise you will be spending a lot more money than anticipated and dealing with a huge amount of stress surrounding the lengthy treatment, need for disinfecting, and possible infection of other pets and humans in the house.

We went on looking to adopt only if we found the right fit and all of fate's stars aligned. To my disbelief they did and we adopted our now named Sootie. She has settled in to a loving and compassionate home and is already quite the little princess. Thank you for everything.
