I can honestly say that my family was discriminated against by the Dallas Appraisal District when one of the staff appraisers told me that my marriage to my spouse was not legal in the state of Texas. I reminded him that it was Federal law and he went on and on how my marriage to my husband as a man was wrong! Furthermore, I went to file my homestead and my deed stated my husband and I are married. I was sent a pending notice for a copy of his driver's license. I brought the license copy and then was \singled out\ and was asked for a copy of my marriage license. I stand strong in my convictions and I have never been discriminated as a gay man in my life. This was outrageous discrimination and a violation of my civil rights. I have reached out to the appraisal district and the appraiser's manager only to be humiliated further and accused of stating the appraiser was sabotaging my file which I never said. DCAD is prejudice and insensitive toward my gay family! I am educated and very reasonable and posted this because the appraiser and manager are very judge-mental!

Spoke with Monica on the phone today. She was so polite and helpful. My experience with the people at this office on the phone and in person has been excellent. It’s obvious the take customer service seriously and to the next level. Thanks again.

I have called this office over 10 times to speak to the exemptions team and every time i call I get conflicting information. Some of the ladies are nice, and one of the mapping guys was awesome and very helpful in locating my new property. Yet when I call I never know who I am going to get, because not everyone is on the same page. Some have attitudes and are quick to transfer you or cut you off when speaking. One minute they say veterans can obtain info paperwork online, then they say you cant and it has to mailed to you. Either way Ive requested the information twice and have yet to recieve it. Today one lady raised her voice at me and hung up at the end of the conversation. I honestly asked myself what did I do wrong? Killeen is way more customer friendly and easier to work with. They never had me jump thru hoops to establish homestead exemption on my house. I almost regret moving.

Arrived at 8 and finished by 8:30 for informal meeting. Valuation was explained. We brought the required evidence to show why it was too high. Our appraiser was courteous and professional and explained his decision to reduce our appraised value. It was actually a quick and painless process. Just come prepared with supporting documentation.
