Purchased some very good used equipment here. Glad to have a place like this so nearby in Maryland! Proprietor has a great wealth of knowledge and experience in Astronomy. Fun to just chat and look around the shop too.

A must go for any astronomy enthusiast. Has every little thing you can imagine. Went here once a while ago and my experience was just the way others have described it. Such a friendly staff willing to help.
I went to this store. Their collecting is amazing and the shop owner is quite knowledgeable. However I found him slightly arrogant. I would still recommend the shop if you need to look and feel the scope before buying it. Their prices are quite good as well.

I drove over an hour to find this store. The owner was full of information and eager to share his 45 years of experience in Astronomy. He helped my family and I pick out a used starter scope (a Celsestron Firstscope 80EQ). That night we saw Mars, the rings of Saturn, the Orion Nebula and others. I would recommend this shop to anyone interested in Astronomy. A level of knowledge is transferred in a few minutes but it's something you'll miss by shopping online.
I recently purchased a CGEM 800 Celestron telescope from Hands on Optics. I found they blurred the line quite a bit between new, used and floor model equipment. I was forced to return the CGEM mount when it was determined by Celestron technical support that the unit had been previously used. It was sold to me as a floor model not used equipment. I intended to purchase new equipment but was pushed into the "floor model".
