Absolutely frustrating. Website says a clerk will call you AFTER you submit the marriage application. It’s been well over a week and no contact has happened. I even called and emailed the Courthouse because my fiancée and I are getting married SOON and need the marriage license. I get it’s COVID-19 but the lack of communication and urgency is inexcusable. We had to apply for a different county because time is sensitive. Cmon DeKalb - do better!!!

I got married here 7 years ago. Now divorced. I was blown away at the length of the application. When we went in to get our marriage license my now ex husband asked for a marriage license. I told the clerk that I wanted a gun license. So glad she had a sense of humor. She laughed. When the judge did the ceremony it was so fast I asked if there was a high five involved in it?? The judge and everyone waiting to get married laughed. Glad I made their day better.

I only called to ask some questions about the marriage license. I’ve never been married and have no idea of how this works and the lady (don’t even remember her name or if she even said it because she was just THAT unprofessional) sounded like she had an attitude from the very beginning. I don’t like people like that. Representatives should make you feel comfortable coming to them with inquiries. Otherwise, get another job. So yeah. So far by just a phone call, my experience wasn’t great. I’d like to try again and hopefully someone different answers.

The process went smoothly save for the fact that the lady at the counter did not explain to me that I had to put my married name into the forms I had to fill out so that my name would automatically be changed. Now I have to go through this lengthy process of getting my last name changed so that I can go on with my married life. To say that it's an annoyance is an understatement. I would like the employees to be al little more informative about the whole marriage process so that others arent stuck in the predicament I am in.

It is very hard to find out how to get divorce records in DeKalb Co., Marriage License info on the web says you must have a divorce certificate to get a marriage license, but they don't tell you where to get it. After a very frustrating hour of searching the website and making calls which don't give the option of talking to a human, I the made a a guess and found a number for probate civil court. I was pleasantly surprised to speak with a very nice, helpful man. He found my case number told me to go to the main information desk at the courthouse and they would direct me to the right office. With proper ID you can come in and walk out with a divorce certificate. As a long time DeKalb County resident, I've had a number of frustrating occasions to look for other information on the website. It really needs to be reviewed and searched from layman's point of view. It could be a lot better!!! I am taking time to write this review hoping someone in charge will actually read this and do something about it.
