I love staying in hostels when I travel, but I will not stay in this one again. It felt more like a slum lord turned his apartment complex into a hostel. There wasn't a community area. Every room had a kitchen, which means food crumbs are going to accumulate around the bedroom and the kitchens don't get cleaned. I am surprised I didn't see any bugs roaming around, though I was really on in the room to sleep. The first day I got there, I was the only person in the room and I put my stuff on a bottom bunk that was empty. When I returned that night, someone had taken that bunk and thrown all my stuff on the floor. I know this is not the hostel's fault, but pretty much everything about the place gave a bad vibe. Two other women in my room were homeless and they had been living there for a week or two. They were obsessed with making sure the door was locked because they claimed there had been some people breaking into the rooms. This hostel didn't have lockers as hostels usually do. I love hostels because it's a safe way to meet interesting people in the community areas and the hostel usually fosters that community atmosphere. That was not the case here. I'm surprised they are allowed to stay open and call themselves a hostel.

This is not a hostel. This is a crack house roach hotel. You can Air B&B a nice clean dorm room type place for same price.

The worst hostel ever. Stay away from here. This hostel is mostly for local people who don't have any other places to sleep. I felt unsafe at all times and saw some people did drugs in the room. Some people started screaming at midnight while they got mad at a woman who was noisily snoring whole night. And I could't sleep at all because of noise and scare. I also found out a woman who did drugs lived there for a while and have stayed at the room whole days. When the sun showed up, I got out of the room immediately and so did a local old woman who stayed there for first time. I had the scariest experience in my life. DON'T STAY HERE!

I normally never give a rating but after reading some terrible comments here, I decided to write one this time. Sure, the hostel is not the cleanest hostel I have ever seen, you can only lock your stuff outside (I just did not lock it) and everything is rundown. You should know all those negative points before going there and if you prefer a very clean and nice hostel in Denver you should go to hostel Fish as far as I heard from other travelers. But keep in mind that the International Youth Hostel's price is just unbeatable! I am happy that there are still hostels like this and for someone who likes to spend money on other things than the cleanliness of a place where one stays only over night or just does not has a lot of money should chose this place. I met some nice and interesting people there and I never felt insecure. The hostel is very close to a pizza place, two bus stations and a supermarket and I would go there again if I would just need a cheap place to stay overnight close to downtown Denver.

I'm not really sure what to expect out of a hostel, but I definitely was a little uncomfortable. At first it seemed pretty cool, although the condition of the rooms and linen were not motel quality. The office guy seemed cool and got me situated after hours which was nice. I went out to a bar with a couple of the bunkmates and then came back. However, it was a little tense at times as all three four of the people in my room were high. But you expect that from a place like this.

The guy who works the front desk is really nice. But, the hostel is nasty. Easily the grossest hostel I have ever stayed in. Everything is stained and unvaccumed and unwashed. You can't beat the prices, but damn. Mattresses are so small they may as well not exist. There is no air conditioning whatsoever either. Just, if you have to do this, know what you're in for. Because, damn.

SKETCHY! They call themselves a youth hostel but there are no restrictions on age or duration of stay. 10 people were packed into a space that should have had 6 bunks at most. Didn't feel safe leaving personal items unattended for any duration of time. Carpet should have been replaced 20 years ago. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. This place is far more a flophouse than a hostel. Would avoid at all costs.

Was worth the money. Nice if you want to spend your money on other things...
