5 stars! Highly recommend the Detroit School of Burlesque! This is a great place to be inspired, encouraged, and empowered to be YOU! Not only will you gain and boost your self confidence in a positive surrounding with a group of like minded people, most importantly, you WILL have FUN!! There are classes for everyone. Take your pick or take all of them. So far, I've taken Belly Dance classes; attended many special event workshops with guest instructors and attended Girls' Night Out Theme nights. My favorite thus far, the beginners Burlesque 101 course and performing in the Sold Out Student Showcase last week! Talk about a confidence booster! This is something you need to experience for yourself! Miss Holly Hock and her instructors go above and beyond to support, encourage and inspire you. You will meet so many amazing, awesome people that share your passion. A great community!! If you're interested in a class, want a Girls' Night Out, or interested in the Burlesque 101 course, definitely attend the Detroit School of Burlesque. You won't regret it! HBK

I LOVE The Detroit School of Burlesque, there are so many classes you can take to teach you all sorts of burlesque skills. From intense workouts, guest burlesque praformers showing you some new skills to sewing! And of course the Burlesque course classes are amazing if you want to break into the scene or just keep some moves to your self esteem.

I want to start off by saying that in 2009, I paid a good chunk of money for a burlesque series taught by two wonderful women and talented performers. I then went on to perform with the CA Valley Burlesque Society until moving back to MI. As both a performer, and someone who has had burlesque instruction, I was FLOORED with the talent of the acts in the April student showcase when I volunteered to help with the show. Though already performing regularly, I knew I still had a lot to learn watching these ladies make their mind blowing debuts. I have since attended four of the Detroit School of Burlesque's classes as a drop-in and each one taught me a great deal (despite me already possessing a considerable amount about the art and performing). I have strengthened the foundation of my burlesque knowledge while also learning tricks and essential tools I never knew before. With what I learned from these classes, along what I now realize was my limited prior burlesque knowledge, then combined with the extraordinary talent and wisdom these women so generously share--I am now a multi-award winning performer who is almost fully booked through 2017. My life is forever changed. I fully intend to continue attending Detroit School of Burlesque because it truly is the greatest tool I could ask for in improving my craft. Thank you so much Holly and Leena.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified-- no but really. I was so nervous. I'm an awful dancer, I have two left feet, my self esteem changes depending on the day. But then I went to the first day. The people in the class are simply wonderful and Holly and Leena are great teachers. They took the time to teach us how to do some beginning moves and did it in a way that was very easy to understand. :) now that the School has its own location, they've really outdone themselves with new classes. I've taken yoga, burlyrobics [super fun you should try!], and recently began taking Barre. That's right. They even have barre!!!
