I was a graduate of the WLEA in November of 2006. The entire experience there was as horrible as I ever could have imagined. I tested higher than 3 other men at my time of hire at the Riverton Police Department, in other words, I was not stupid. Instructors harrassed and embarrased me on a regular basis. I was constantly accused of wrong-doings there was no proof of. I was harrased by several of the male attendees with absolutely NO support from instructors or from staff. Riverton Police Department attendees were historically harrassed by WLEA staff, but try being a 43 year old woman too. In retrospect, I wish I had hired an attorney back then. I would have reported daily the harassement and the unfairness delved out by the instructors and the staff. I had heard there was a female before me that committed suicide shortly after graduating. I have to say, I can understand why. If any female or any person is harrassed at WLEA, I invite them to contact me for support of their claim against the academy. I am aware Wyoming is 'behind the times' regarding equality, but the WLEA is an atrosity of professionalism.
