This place is amazing, It's a shame to see all the low reviews because of one lady but she left and it's great. I was asking for boogie boards that could sustain me and my 4 year old daughter and the handed me over to the sixteen year old who new the most about water sport equipment, and he helped me pick the perfect board for us, they even held the board for me until I got there. Love this place.

We like to visit local surf shops when we go to the beach for a few stickers for the Jeep and a couple of t-shirts. I stopped by Bert's on my way out of Emerald Isle and was a little before opening. I was greeted at the door with a woman telling me somewhat rudely that they didn't open until 10:00 and to come back. I did come back for some stickers and shirts and tried to strike up some small talk with the woman there while I was browsing. I was brushed off repeatedly. An older couple in their 60's walked in, and she was more than happy to ask about their trip, where they are staying, etc. Maybe she didn't like my tattoos, or she thought I didn't have money, who knows, but she was rude. My suggestion... Learn who your audience is for a surf and skate shop. It's NOT 65 year old couples. I put the stickers for Bert's on the Jeep, but it will remind me of the only bad experience I've ever had in Emerald Isle. The \have a blessed day\ she threw out as I was leaving was nothing but a platitude. If you dont mean it, dont say it. If I were the owner, I'd get rid of this manager immediately. She is running your business into the ground, and it could be so much more.

Like this shop and good selection, but can't figure out why their hours never match what's online or even on their door. The hours on Google maps say 9 am, their door says 10 am, parking lot with a bunch of customers waiting at 10:10, but not open. I don't get leaving your customers hanging like that.

I love Berts, after the mean manager left it felt like the place became alive again, great customer service, I was asking question about surfing/skating/skimming and the answered all questions I had without doubt (which shows a lot of confidence). I ended up buying a couple of skimboards from them for my son and I, and they perform exactly like they said it would. I am glad to have supported their business.
