I was the piano player here for a year. This church is a gem on Chicago's Southside. The pastor emeritus (Rev. Al Sampson) lets everyone know he was ordained by Dr. King, and that he established a department of agriculture, which interacts with congregations in the deep south. He is a great, inspiring speaker, but more long-winded than his two able successors, Rev. Elliot Parker and Rev. Jenette Wilson. The main sanctuary (erected 1928) is in disrepair, but there are real people welcoming you to join them upstairs in the Marcus Garvey room, which looks something like a grade school gym.
