Hello, Clarise

As a medical professional, I am APPALLED! I had to spend 24 hours in this facility and here's some of the extremely dangerous behavior I witnessed: I got a TB test, but NO covid19 test. Despite needing 48-72 hours to get the results of TB, I was immediately put in the general population block with NO requirements to shower, no access to soap to wash my hands, and NO cleaning requirements within the cell or block. There was only 4 people total because everyone else was quarantined; almost 80% of women tested positive for covid 19. (A very nice guard informed me of this when he saw I am a surgical nurse.) Initially I was put into one unit, the entire unit was then moved to the male unit. There was no in between time, meaning the men walked out as we walked in. So there were ants, urine and fecal matter inside my cell with nothing to clean with for 2 hours. We were locked in and I was forced to use toilet paper and jail shampoo to clean the disgusting mess. After 2 hours they brought cleaner, but nothing to use aside from single ply toilet paper. I was also disgusted to see that when leaving, I was told to put my dirty sheets and stuff on top of CLEAN sheets in the laundry room. Also, they do not provide ANY drinks... despite being the summer in AZ. You need to ask & chances are you will not get it. You have to drink water that is gray and smells of rotten eggs and chlorine with packets that are genuinely dangerous for human consumption (even the ants ignored it) All and all, the privatized prison system is a business, and because no one cares about inmates they are forced to live inside of this inhumane and downright DANGEROUS environment. Shame on you corecivic!

When calling the phone number either it's busy or no one is there to answer your call and you must leave a voicemail. I've learned after leaving numerous of voicemails in various departments you'll never get a call back. Pretty frustrating that people get paid to do nothing! Not to mention how they even allow a facility to open up who have no idea what they're doing? Lawyers speak very poorly of this facility, how they're still getting everything together, and how phone and fax machines are always down.

Actually those Inmates get better treatment than their Counterparts in State Prisons. However, Prison should not be a private business. This country has per capita the HIGHEST amount of incarcerated people than the rest of the World. That's due to Failings of our Justice System, throwing everybody behind bars for even minor infractions and the mentally ill. Unfortunately, I don't see that changing any time soon.
