Dr. Mayhew is absolutely incredible. I see her for OB/GYN and dermatology. She is extremely knowledgeable, thorough and compassionate. She is straightforward and easy to talk to. I cannot recommend her enough!

I saw Dr. Mayhew in March for skin itchiness and thought it was something simple. The appointment was easy to make and she seems to be knowledgeable. I asked for charge upfront and she mentioned 200-300. I have very good insurance so I thought everything should be covered. She asked if I had pap test lately and I told her it was done 3-4 months prior with normal result and every year prior. For some reason, she still did it on me without asking. At the end, I was charged for more than 500 for the office visit. My insurance paid 300 and I still have to paid 200 since pap test was already covered within 12 month. If you are rich, I guess you wouldn't mind the charge. Also I didn't like the fact she did the pap without asking me and it also caused cramping for me. In addition, it was much more than she initially quoted me and she didn’t offer any explanation. I followed up twice with her afterwards and ask if she could remove the pap charge and she wouldn’t respond.

I am struggling with pelvic organ prolapse that is severe enough that it drastically affects my quality of life. I previously had a really competent gynecologist who had seen me for years and who takes insurance, but she was unable to take the time to tell me what I needed to know when symptoms first appeared, or to help me at all with non-surgical options. I have a lot of other health issues and surgery really scares me. So things got pretty bad pretty quickly due to my lack of understanding. Dr. Mayhew is extremely knowledgeable and is able to take the time to have a real discussion with me about my individual situation each time I see her. This is more expensive medical care, but what I had before was useless because it wasn't the information I needed or the help I needed. Dr. Mayhew has not only helped me hugely with the prolapse issues, but she has offered good suggestions for other issues I had been ignoring. She answers questions well and I feel like I understand why something is being suggested and I have a chance to ask questions and voice concerns and have those addressed - I am not just blindly following directions and trusting it will work out for the best. Because Dr. Mayhew has gone the extra mile for me, I have a temporary solution that has reduced my symptoms by about 90% and dramatically improved my quality of life. I also have a clear understanding about why, in my situation, surgery is the best approach for me and the risks of not having the surgery, which I had not understood before. If you actually need real, individualized HELP, Dr Mayhew is a great resource. And I feel like she has my back, which I never felt with my previous doctor.
