Most incredible and stunning trail I have experienced so far. Will definitely be coming back. Make sure to register your permit before you plan on going.

Fun and beautiful. The hike was long enough to keep away crouds but not too hard for the whole family. The cave and cliff jumping was awesome!

Beautiful scenery, refreshing water to dip and jump in, and a sweet 4.5 mile hike down and up. 25k steps for the day. Bring plenty of water, good hiking boots, sun screen, some bug spray, and you should be good to go. Arrive early so you can insure a close up parking space and less crowds down below. Must have a pass after May 1st, 2019.

Great swimming in crystal clear blue waters, but the hike back up is a hellish 5 miles, especially if you have poor cardiovascular health. Walking there and back totals 4 - 5 hours. Bring goggles to appreciate the caves and fish. No need for towels or any food more than some snack bars. Just a gallon of water and maybe some water shoes, or else any backpack you bring will be a burden. Wear a wide brimmed hat and bring sunblock to stay safe and cool. I'd personally like to stay down there to swim for as much time as I invest in walking, so this is definitely a whole day trip from around 8 - 9 am to 4 - 5 pm.

Such a wonderful hike. Its just over 4 miles from the trail head to the dam and just over 8.5 round trip. The hike in is fairly easy. The hike out is a little harder but not difficult. Take plenty of water, take your time and enjoy yourself There seems to be confusion about the signs stating there is no access to "The Waterfall". This is not entirely accurate. Fossil Creek Dam is a little water fall, but it isn't "The Waterfall" that is several miles downstream. You could technically take the Flume trail from the end of the Fossil Creek Trail and then meet up with "the Waterfall", but that would make this over a 20 mile loop hike.

We started from the Strawberry side at bob bear trailhead. It was 4.1 miles to the waterfall. It was a ton of fun. Swimming, cliff jumping and caves. Great day trip!

One of the most beautiful hikes in AZ but BE AWARE that the hike back out is an 8/10 difficulty - it's at least 2hrs of steep uphill hiking on loose jagged rocks.... Totally worth it though just bring a gallon of water and take breaks!
