I go into donate platelets and I had an appointment at 1pm that I scheduled online. I go to donate and I was deferred because of a bruise from another blood test. I kind of knew that I would be denied. Since I knew I would probably be denied I brought my husband to donate because they stated there is a blood shortage. I was told he couldn't donate because he had no appointment. I am like well can he go into my appointment slot. They were like well we don't have information for your appointment, so there isn't an appointment to fill. My husband is O a universal donor and you deny his donation. Now I know why people don't donate. Instead of setting up road blocks, maybe Red Cross shouldn't be so picky especially when you have a healthy person coming to donate.
