I can’t say enough wonderful things about the Alachua County Victims Services. Not only have they been seeing me individually for over two years, they also facilitated group therapy for me which was incredibly powerful and immensely important in my own healing. I just can’t thank them enough!

I was at work when a friend called to tell me they had been sexually assaulted. I had no idea what to do to help. I had never been the person a victim confided in immediately after their assault. I knew that my response was crucial, but I had no idea what that response should be. I figured, hey maybe a crisis counselor might have some pro tips. I thought I was being incredibly clever, but it turns out Alachua County Victim Services regularly provides advice and information about supporting someone who has experienced sexual assault. I spoke with a counselor at Alachua County Victim Services and received excellent guidance on how to offer my friend support and be there for them. I am so thankful the counselor stressed honoring my friend’s autonomy and ability to make decisions. Every time I bit my tongue and didn’t say “you should” or “you need to” I was glad I had called.

Horrible Experience! Horrible People! I went in here for counseling. I told the counselor that he was not a good fit for me. He ignored me and used his psychology skills to keep me talking to him for another 30 minutes. He completely invalidated my feelings. I feel used and abused by my counselor. Now, I need therapy to treat the effects of this counselor. If you know what's good for you, you'll stay away from this place.
