I have had several piano tuners out to service my baby grand piano because of various mechanical issues, including notes that continued to stick and the very tight action that made it hard to play for any long length of time- none were able to permanently correct the issue, that is until I had Chris Carranza work on the piano I wanted a tuner who actually played the piano so he would understand the problems. Chris is a delightful pianist. He spent time talking to me about the problems i had with the piano before he started and then showed me the steps he was taking to resolve those and the other problems he discovered as he went along. Despite the fact that I think he found more issue than he bargained for, he honored the price he initially gave me to look at the piano and also helped me to decide what issues where most important to focus on so that I would enjoy playing the piano again. Chris did a wonderful job, he is a direct and honest person and enjoys what he does. I highly recommend Chris to anyone.

I have been using Chris as my piano tuner for over 20 years now. I am the music director at a church in Irvine where her has been tuning all of our pianos for more than 30 years. He has been absolutely incredible. Our church flooded and he was able to restore our priceless grand piano back to original condition even when it had been under 3 feet of water for more than 12 hours! Bravo Chris! I didn’t think it was possible. He always accommodates last minute requests, and even tunes my harpsichord in the middle of a concert when he was singing in the choir and realized it had dropped pitch. His tunings are spot on, and his prices are very reasonable. Always a nice guy, it’s been a pleasure to use him as my piano tuner at work and at home. He will even recommend pianos to me to purchase at great rates, and has had the top and legs of my piano at home (after I moved) repaired to the point where you would never have known the movers had damaged it. If you’re looking for a piano technician that can accommodate all your piano needs contact Chris!

Chris Carranza is a highly skilled and deeply experienced piano technician. If you have a fine instrument (Steinway, Yamaha, etc.) and you want it maintained at concert level, Chris has the knowledge and ability to get the most out of your instrument. From tunings, to regulation to full rebuilds, Chris can provide the full range of services necessary to keep your grand sounding and playing at the highest level. If you are looking to purchase a rebuilt or refurbished Steinway or other high end grand, Chris can also help you locate an excellent used piano at a good value.

I have first contacted Chris through the form on his Web site, but never heard back from him; a couple of weeks later I filled again his form trying to contact Chris to have my son’s piano tuned; again - no response whatsoever. Chris may be the best piano tuner, but what use of his skills if he doesn’t reply to his potential customers requests for service (and I think I was more than accommodating, because I waited for a couple of weeks after first contacting him to reach out again to him, and then I waited for another 2 weeks before writing this review)?
