A beautiful field for high altitude launches
like
One of the largest rocket launching field in NYS and the Northeast. There is over a square mile of recovery. The field is actually owed by the National War Plane Museum and is used for as an airstrip to fly the antique planes. The only crops on the field is the actual grass which cut often for hay. The club that operates the rocket launch field maintains equipment from low-power all the way up to L-3 launches. The waiver is one of the highest in New York. The field is so well-respected that people come from all over the East Coast and Canada to attend their monthly today launches. There's always at least one vendor on the field selling motors and launch supplies. The location is conveniently near Geneseo New York which offers plenty of food vendors and major businesses to supply you with other needs for coming to all launch. The two day weekend launches are held monthly from May through October. The highlighted three day launch, called NYPower, is held in May on Memorial Day weekend. It is the club policy to never cancel a launch. The daily launch fees are reasonable and spectators are free and welcome to come watched launches. I view The Monroe Area Rocket Society as part of the trifecta of upstate rocket launching fields accessible along the New York State Thruway, the other two being The Upstate Rocket Research Group and the Syracuse Rocket Club. Often these clubs align there's launch dates so that rocket enthusiast in the Central and Western New York Area can have a launch to go to almost every weekend during the summer.
