I planned to host for a year but my host daughter was moved to a different house in the middle of the year. I am a single mom and I was told that working full time posed a problem and she would not be able to live with me due to me not being home with her. We were in the dark about a lot and I know a few other families who also experienced similar situations when the rug was pulled from under them. I was a single mom working a full time job when I started hosting so I am disappointed and confused about why I was approved in the first place. Hosting isn’t easy but it’s a great experience to bring another person into your family. Unfortunately for me it went south.

Great organization that follows the rules & tries hard to make great experiences for families & the students. We have hosted many many students with them from many many countries️
Personally hosted for CETUSA and love all my extended family from Mexico, China, Thailand, Spain, Switzerland, South Korea, Norway, Germany, and Vietnam. This is such a rewarding experience especially when you have the opportunity to watch them grow over the years.
Rep took on to many kids . Rep did the bare minimum with keeping In contact with our student and getting to know her . Rep made excuses when the application was found out to be a lie . YES the application from the student was false . They checked a ton of activies to make the child more desirable for placement . There are zero expectations for children to participate in school or volunteer while here in the USA with CETUSA . The children don't have to do anything while here if they choose ! If you plan on hosting with this organization expect to get the bare minimum from your rep and excuses .
The staff puts the needs of the children first. 24/7 Student Support and higher guidelines than required is what makes Cetusa stand out from all other exchange organizations!
My husband & I hosted a Thai girl 13 years ago with CETUSA. We hosted an Italian boy last year while our own son was a senior in high school-- again with CETUSA! During both experiences, we found our local coordinators to be attentive, helpful & professional. We all learned a lot about ourselves & two other countries' cultures. I highly recommend couples with or without children host a foreign exchange student with CETUSA. Hosts provide a bed, meals, and transportation to/from school. CETUSA is on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest as well as the web. Contact the non-profit program today to apply to be a volunteer host! You'll make a teenager's academic & social dreams come true!
best organization ever!
