Went there last week, the people were very kind, generous and helpful. They told me all the information I needed and even got my tune up done right there and then. They sold me last season's bindings by accident for full price, but I caught that mistake, called back, and they let me swap them for the correct ones. Mistakes happen and they were nice about it. I took one star off (and this is a pretty bad one) because although they told me the correct/standard snowboard angles, they installed my snowboard bindings angles 3,-3 and installed the bindings on my board backwards and I own a directional board. So as you can imagine, things were pretty bad on the mountain. I just started boarding and this is my very first board, so I didn't catch the mistake, but I was falling over and over again and had poor control over my weight. My friend finally looked at my board and realized everything was off. He fixed everything and then I rode fine after :) but overall, they are really nice people and genuinely try to be helpful. I would just double check the stuff they give you.

We decided to go to the Greenville location because we liked the concept of appointment required. However when we showed up on time, there was a more than 30min wait because apparently walk-ins are accepted. We also had problems with the rental quality such as limited boot sizes. Finally when we were told the skis were ready for pick up, we went to the store only to find out that they had not been waxed and tuned. We had to wait in the basement of the store while they worked on it. Overall a very disappointing experience...

On the website it says this location requires an appointment for seasonal ski rental. Without knowing this, I went to the store 45 mins before they close. One of the three agents upstairs reminded me of the policy before going to the basement to see if an exception can be made or to make an appointment for me. The other two agents were sitting down not doing much. I asked if one of them would be able to help me - they both said they don’t know anything about skis. I left the store. Fast forward 15 minutes - I am at Ridgeline Ski & Snowboard in Manhasset (now 30 minutes before they close) and got my fitting done in less than 10 minutes without an appointment. Plus, I got a better deal there. Management at Sundown should train their staff to be knowledgeable in all aspects of the business.

My family has remarked on more than one occasion that we're so lucky to have a great local ski shop near us. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable; I feel like they really go out of their way to make sure we have the gear we need, with the exact fit we need. I absolutely trust them when it comes to my kids and their tricky fits. They also have good deals for the local ski resorts. Finally, they just love skiing and snowboarding; it's so obvious by the way they talk about it with customers. I'm from Colorado and this store in Long Island is as good as any I had out West!
