Kala and his fellow instructors were absolutely amazing. We had a group of 17 ranging from 8 to 67 years old. Kala made sure each and everyone of us had a great time and all of us got up on the boards. The instructors paid attention and told us little adjustments to make in order to get us long rides on the waves. We are already planning our next trip and Kala will be our only choice again!!!

Kala is amazing! He is patient and genuinely wants to see people enjoy themselves surfing. During my kids last visit to the island, we had a family surf day and Kala taught them all. They had a blast. It was the highlight of their Christmas vacation. Thanks to Kala, surfing is a major part of my life. He taught me to surf and I surf the North Shore of Oahu every day I get a chance. Mahalo Kala!

Great teacher! My friend and I had some experience surfing but we wanted to transition to shorter boards. Kala took us out to Chun's Reef and he was able to give great advice to get us up and riding waves successfully. I would recommend him to anyone looking the next step in surfing.

Surfing lessons with kala and his team was the highlight of our trip to Oahu! We decided last minute to do group lessons and kala was kind enough to take us in on his day off. We did a group of 3 adults and 3 kids and everyone came back with nothing but positive experiences. He made sure to properly teach us everything we needed to know to catch a good wave. Everyone felt safe under his instruction, he even made sure to pay special attention to the three little ones (7, 5, and 4 year old) which we loved. We all went in a little skeptical but finished with absolute joy and appreciation for surfing Hawaii’s beautiful waters. If your looking for a life changing experience, then surfing lessons with kala is a MUST. We even saw a sea turtle nesting on the beach!

I highly recommend the North Shore Oahu Surf School (NSOSS) for all genders, ages, sizes and athletic abilities. I can honestly say Kala goes out of his way to provide his students the necessary guidance and instructions to enjoy their lessons and catch waves. Further, it does not matter your age or size, and I say this from personal experiences, as I am in my mid forties and weigh over 225lbs (100kgs), and Kala assisted me step by step to ensure I understood the science associated with ocean and catching a wave. The value is by far better when compared to other schools on Oahu, as I have attended a total of four. The North Shore Oahu Surf School is a must try for anyone wanting to learn how to surf, as you will not be disappointed. Kala truly takes pride in teaching the art aspect associated with the sport of surfing. A must for tourists, military members, government employees and their family members alike! 6 out of 5 Stars!

My friend and I took surf lessons with Josh. The experience was awesome! Both of us stood up on the first wave we tried and many more after that. Josh was super patient, helpful and always providing us with pointers on how to improve. 10/10 would recommend and do it again.

Kala is a very experienced surfing instructor! He make surfing so easy to learn. With his help, my daughter and son stood up on board in about half an hour and an old guy like me in an hour. Definitely will comeback on my next visit to the North Shore and highly recommend to others.
