I just read a one star review and I certainly disagree with most what was written. My experience with Alan was golden. He made sure that the permitting process was accurate. He and I spoke periodically throughout the year leading up to the hunt. Alan actually suggested we cancel our hotel reservation and stay in his 5th wheel on his property. We arrived and he had pizzas waiting for myself and my family. The following day we loaded up the horses and mules and we rode into camp. They did make two different trips. There were a total of three hunters in camp when I was there for the first week of rifle week. Alan was very personable throughout my entire experience. Alan does not do this for the money. This is truly a passion of his. My guide was excellent. He was excellent enough that the following summer I hunted with him in Alaska with my daughter. Every hunter in camp got an elk. Alan is an incredibly honorable man. In the industry in which he works was involved in a serious accident and could have easily filed a serious lawsuit yet he didn't by simply stating it was an accident. I booked another hunt with him yet was unable to go and had to cancel in a short notice. I told him to just keep the deposit and he stated I'll apply it to another hunt for a different year. I then told him that it was unfair on my part to cancel on such short notice and he reluctantly kept the deposit. Alan is a very good man and I happened to come across this negative review because I am looking to book a hunt with him for 2020.

This trip was nothing like we were promised. In the year leading up to the trip, Alan was great to talk to on the phone. He was personable and beyond helpful. The day we got there, we were picked up and shuttled to the hotel like cattle. Just dropped off with nothing to do or directions. We were picked up early and then went to “the lodge” I then met Alan and the other guides. Alan was not personable and very rude. It seeemed as if we were wasting his time. Then we drove up to the mountain and parked the trucks and loaded up the horses. We were promised a horse ride into the tent camp but instead needed to walk carrying our packs because there were not enough horses. The camp was what I expected. Our guide did not seem to know what he was doing. Every day he would say” I have never hunted elk in second week rifle before” or “ this is a spot I have never been. Let’s try here” or “ this is where we take the people who can’t get around” I felt like he was just baby sitting us. We saw some cows two days and around 6 bulls at 2000 yards one other day. There is nowhere near the amount of elk they tell you. If I were ever going to go again, I would never go with this outfitter. I would look for a place that has last years elk pictures. The reason they are so old in the website is because they do 50 or more guys a year and only get 1 elk. The cook did do a great job. That saved the trip for me. Don’t waste your 5000 go somewhere else!!
