What a wonderful place to stay! The bed was so comfortable and had a big fluffy comforter- every time I laid down on it I fell right to sleep! Barry brought us snacks and made us feel welcomed.

I'm thrilled to write this review for Barry's B&B, which in my honest opinion is the best place to stay at if you're in Hudson. My boyfriend booked this trip so I really had no idea what to expect coming in, I certainly did not expect the: 1. Delicious french toast / waffles / eggs / homemade apricot/ peach compote that Barry cooked for breakfast 2. Our beautiful large Medieval-inspired room with HIGH ceilings (we stayed in the master suite, which had a four-poster, tub w/ bubble bath soap, and Apple TV!) 3. And last but not least, our conversations with Barry. Even though we're college students, we really had some great philosophical conversations and became fast friends over our stay. We even had a pretty rough start -- we arrived at like 10:30 or 11pm that night at a bus station four miles away rather than taking the Amtrak up from NYC, and Barry had to pick us up... So for future visitors from NYC without a car, tip: please take the Amtrak rather than the bus, as the view is better and you won't have to worry about transportation to Barry's B&B. Haha. Overall, my expectations were really exceeded coming here and I was struck not only by the room and the tasty breakfast, but also by Barry's hospitality and kindness. In fact, I felt like I really made some great friends at Hudson and I would highly recommend coming here!

Barry is too sweet for words. He is present, helpful yet not overbearing. An incredible italiante victorian home close to Warren Street. I felt at home immediately, as soon as I opened the door to my spacious room. I never slept so well in my life! The rooms are clean, it has the feeling of being in a big mansion yet with a very humble touch. I will return again to get away form NYC! Thank you Barry Butterfield!

A nice, comfy house with a front porch and back garden. Great room/bed and lots of antiques throughout the house. Barry, the owner, is a pleasure to converse with. I was only there for two nights but it felt like home. Also, it's so close to everything in Hudson. Would certainly stay there again.

Sept 2020 COVID City escape with my oldest daughter who has been working hard from NYC apartment to the best BNB ever and we took our 13 year-old Standard Poodle too! Thanks Barry for the marvelous beds, charming porch, pleasant chats, sharing sausage with our dog, and for the fantastic breakfasts!!! After reading the great reviews 4 weeks ago when I booked my stay for this weekend on their website, I got a confirmation email right afterwards, and even another email confirming they take dogs. I noticed 3 days before our stay that my card was not charged the deposit. I emailed this morning, but no response so I called and spoke to a man. He told me he thought he emailed me saying they had to cancel. Never have I received any email notifying me that. The man could not give my a valid reason why they were cancelling. I am soo disappointed not only in their lack of communication, but carelessness in handling the situation. If I had not called today, I would've shown up 3 hr drive away. I see their most recent review says they reservation was cancelled due to COVID-19. I would've totally understood if my reservation had to be cancelled due to COVID as I am also in a customer service role where I've had to explain similar situation to people, but I was NOT EVEN INFORMED of that reason, OR NOTIFIED AT ALL OF CANCELLATION. The man only said he could not honor our reservation. I had booked this 4 weeks in advance after healing from a foot surgery and even took off from work so I was looking forward to this trip. This was the most unprofessional experience I've had from a hospitality business and I would NEVER RECOMMEND anyone to stay here. Oh and when I check on their website now, it says our room is occupied so clearly, they do not know how to run a business.

The only place to stay in Hudson! Planned a last-minute trip for the weekend and could not find any other place; however, it was meant to be. There is absolutely no other place with better value. As seen in all other reviews, Barry could not be a better host. He gave us detailed recommendations on everything we asked for, and even called a bar, Helsinki, to check if there were any tables left as this place has minimal standing room (only he knew this as he is the expert on everything in town). Then, again we booked last-minute train tickets back home and gave him just 20 minutes notice. Barry insisted on making us breakfast-to-go and driving us to the train station there even though we had time to walk. In just 5 minutes, Barry made us the most savory yet simple sandwich (which was the topic of conversation for part of the train ride back.) His breakfast was the best meal we had during our entire weekend in Hudson - 100% fact. Eating breakfast outside on the porch was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. Location is walking distance from the best shopping and food in Hudson, as well as Amtrak. If anyone else is looking, this is the only place I'd recommend.
