DO NOT GO HERE. The employees steal from the clients, one client is missing 200 after one of their "caretakers" went to the grocery store for them. The company told the client there was nothing they could do. The employees do NOT clean their clients homes as the claim, rats, rat pellets, cobwebs, and old food was found in one client's kitchen that was supposedly cleaned the day before. Caretakers claim to sweep and mop people's homes who do not own brooms or mops. Clients are missing items out of their homes. None of the employees are certified, and are all paid minimum wage. This company does NOT care about their clients nor do they confirm that their employees are doing the work they claim. They clearly are having issues as they send new people to clients houses on a weekly basis, and most of their clients are ones that COULD NOT BE COVERED ANYWHERE ELSE. THEY CAME TO INDEPENDENT HEARTS AS THEIR ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT. STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT SUBJECT YOUR LOVED ONES TO THEFT AND INDIFFERENCE. DO NOT PAY GOOD MONEY FOR UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM.

I worked with Independent Hearts for two months. After reading the terrible reviews it brakes my heart. Also I am glad there are good reviews. This company does care a lot about their clients and they care about their employees and really want their employees and clients safe and taken care of. This organization only offers basic services, NOT CNA certification services, which does limit the care takers abilities to help even more than they can for families. The company does have a high turn over rate because the pay wage is awful. Unfortunately that detours people that have college education and 8 years in the teaching field, the medical field, and numerous years of background checks completed (like myself) away because the wage is not sustainable. In only two months they were nothing but open and understanding I missed a flight and was unable to make it to work. They were understanding that sitting in the airpot for 6 hours was terrible and I would have rather been working. The clients I cared for expressed how they were impressed and adored Dorthy and other members at Independent Hearts. I know from experience they do care and do and would take action if they could if a client is taken advantage of. If you were cheated so was Independent Hearts, because nobody wants anybody around that is going to still or give them a bad name.
**** AVOID**** This company is a disgrace to the health care field!!! They don't care about the Clients they have and they steal from them. The clients continue to pay this company even if no one shows up for months. There is no follow through with clients. Owner/office staff never goes to the homes to check if work has been completed or how a client is even doing. Even though their handbook states you will be introduced to the client on first visit they lied. You have to figure it out on your own w/o proper training. They expect you to give CNA services with no certification. They are most definitely not the most valued or respected company in Southern Colorado. I would would not intrust this company with my dog let alone a human being. My heart goes out to the elderly clients who can't speak for themselves. If you want your loves one to stay at home and be comfortable this is not the company for them! I've seen clients homes so neglected and it can't be taken care of on a 2,3 or even 8 hour shift. I've seen clients in the same clothes for days. Clients whose things go missing and never replaced. When office has been notified there is no follow up. Swept under the rug and forgot about. Do not allow your loved one to be mistreated, neglected, or deprived from the happiness they deserve.
Independent Hearts Home Care. When my family needed help with a loved one Independent Hearts came in and provided the care that we were looking for.
We went with Ind Hrts a few years ago, and then private caregivers entered our lives and I suspended Ind Hrts. I was always pleased with their staff and the treatment I and my husband received. The caregivers were good, some a better fit than others which is to be expected. One of their caregivers who seemed great on the outside, stole a few things from us. That made me so sad. But I went to the office of Ind Hrts, explained what happened, and they made things right. I was impressed. I know they do extensive background checks on their caregivers, and while those may return clean, they can't predict what is in someone's heart. Recently, as my husband's health deteriorated, I needed more help and contacted Ind Hrts. They welcomed us back, so that's a good start! I am pleased with most of the caregivers who have come to our home, and am still looking for the right fit for a couple shifts. I am patient and I know it will happen. Kudos to Dorothy for running such a fine and necessary business. Kudos to Rebecca for cheerfully scheduling and matching caregivers and clients. Kudos to everyone else on staff for their caring hearts also. Kudos to the caregivers for choosing this line of work.
