Izakaya Reviews | Rating 4.5 out of 5 stars (8 reviews)

Izakaya is located in Houston, United States on 318 Gray St. Izakaya is rated 4.5 out of 5 in the category modern izakaya restaurants in United States. kaya is a Japanese gastropub in Houston, Texas -- the first of its kind there. It is located in the ever developing neighborhood of Midtown. Unlike some restaurants, the menu and the staff at Izakaya put just as much emphasis on the drinks as the food. The menu also consists of a variety of global cuisines as opposed to serving only Japanese cuisine. Some of the best-known dishes served at Izakaya include fresh seaweed salad, beef bulgogi lettuce wrap, tonkatsu ramen and tempura shrimp Izakaya style. The menu is the creation of two chefs, Manabu Horiuchi, who has studied and mastered traditional Japanese cuisine, and Jean-Philippe Gaston, who has made a name for himself with his eclectic tastes and culinary art.

Great service and amazing dumplings. The art is so pleasing. The water cups are small because that is traditional in Japan. We never had to ask for a refill because the server was great about checking on their tables.

Solid Japanese pub, would recommend anyone stopping in Houston to give it a try. Good variety of food to choose from on the menu and good prices for the entree size. The appetizers were my favorite things, but the seasonal dessert was great too.

Good ambience to hangout with friends and family. It is a good place in downtown to have some Japanese food (it is not very authentic, but still food is good). We tried pan fried vegetable dumplings, ramen noddles, turkey breasts skewer and happy hour drinks. They also have happy hour. If you don’t mind people asking for a change while you are eating, then sit outside and enjoy downtown vibe.

I’ll start off by saying great job with your staff. So far my visits here have been great. I have yet to find anything negative to say food is great, drinks are good, and the vibe is relaxed. If your looking for a good spot to hang out and lay back this is definitely a good pick.

Great ramen, very good dumplings made fresh in house. The soup dumplings are awesome! A big selection of alcoholic beverages and great service.

The Kobe beef skewers were like butter and just melted in your mouth. The Himachi and foie gras is sweet with a good balance of tart, it was almost like a dessert, very refreshing to eat. Great service at the bar too. The only dish that didn't impress was the sirloin skewers and it wasn't even bad. It was good but nothing special. Definitely recommended.
