Good cheap prices, little out of they way but great product
like
This seems to be a fairly run auction by a family within a rural community. I’ve never been to the live auction but have participated in the Online auctions and have picked up my livestock in person twice. The place is clean, plain and functional. Beyond the control of the family are the people who offload sick or otherwise unproductive animals. Auctions are famous dumping grounds for disease spread. This isn’t their problem and I’m sure they do their best to decline visibly sick animals. Auctions are always buyer beware. An auction is only as good as its supporters who take healthy stock and who pay fair prices and in my experience this one is a good one on that regard.
They ear tag calves which I feel is inappropriate, as these calves are already sick usually and highly stressed. I did buy a calf but spent 200.00 in medicine to save her and had to lavage feed for two weeks every three to four hrs until she was healthy enough to nurse from bottle. It is however not all the auction places fault, as the dirt bag that brings the calves to sell have removed from their mother without proper colostrum and milk to give them a good start And for their own personal gain and dairy businesses. It is sad..... but if you are willing to take the time to save a calf it can be rewarding that you rescued an animal.
