I brought my daughter to Joe DiMaggio’s Pediatric Orthopedic center in Hollywood on my pediatrician’s recommendation. The service I have received from this office has been terrible from the moment I called to make an appointment for my visit and follow up calls with the doctor. Dr. McNery (spelling?) has the WORST bedside manner. During our visit he gave me red flags to look out for, and when I call to discuss those red flags he indicates he never said that. I explained my concerns to him and he spoke to me in a condescending tone. After persisting he finally told me “if your child is in school she is not that sick, I am concerned about a child that is really sick”. As a concerned parent I want someone who is going to care about what I have to say. I’m obviously not an expert in what’s going on with my child, I shouldn’t be guilted or made felt like my concerns were silly by the person that is in charge of her care.

I have met some very professional, empathetic and caring people from this department but I have also met a surgeon or two who was more concerned with not dealing with us and tried to tell me that tha pain my child is going through every day is in his head.... I would be interested in finding out if those who want to judge without knowing the patient, have ever had those operations . A little empathy and understanding goes a long way. Thankfully our surgeon and assistants ( deserves 5 stars ) have been outstanding.

It is apparent that money is more important at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital than the ethical treatment of children here, and I warn you against seeking any future treatment for your children here considering where their priorities clearly lie. I'm not comfortable with this hospital as a whole considering their affirmative decision toward the circumcision of a 4.5 year old child expressing clear non-consent, despite broad nationwide news coverage of that decision to do this elective body-altering surgery on a child directed at the ethical treatment children, that the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital would accept this. I had a hostile experience with one of the employees representing the surgeon's office and I am just not impressed as a whole and if it was an ultimate emergency, I would never let them be with my child unsupervised.

Called to make an orthopedic appt for a 2nd opinion for a 3yr old and I was informed that they would have to \ask\ the doctor if they would see him? Seriously?? You have to ask a \pediatric\ surgeon if they will see a 3 yr old? Isn't that their job?? Very rude and little to no empathy. Would not recommend.
