I just want to thank the female officer who helped my son start his car tonight (12/12 around 9:30 pm) He had just finished finals and came out to a dead car battery. I appreciate the officer’s help and thank you for arriving quickly.

I feel more afraid these cops are going to give me a pointless traffic violation than making the campus safe. I have seen so many cops around the nice newly built dorms but only 1 cop in 3 years at the commuter garages at night. Useless.

A couple people have noted that they dislike UTPD for \giving out pointless parking tickets\ but I wanted to let everyone know that UTPD does not issue these. Parking tickets on campus come from the Office of Parking and Transit Services at UT. UTPD is dedicated to protecting the students and the officers are respectful as long as you give them respect.

The police at UTK are incredibly inadequate. The only thing they really do is hand out parking violations, and they don't even do that correctly. I understand that campus police aren't the cream of the crop but they are honestly the worst of the worst. Besides myself, I have had multiple friends encounter situations that involved police assistance that were let down. The people who work at UTPD clearly don't want to be there either and every time I have spoken with them they have used a rude tone. I am very disappointed with not only UTPD, but with the university as a whole.

Cop pulled me over, acted like a total moron, was rude and disrespectful. Went to court over the ticket, he lied and I had to pay the ticket. Got stopped again by a different cop for 4 over the limit. Again the cop was disrespectful and then threatened me. Bunch of fat, waste of space white guys with too much power.

I went through a year meeting regularly with the Chief Troy Lane and many other campus constituents, including SGA, SEAT, the Office of General Counsel, faculty, administration and students on a Sexual Assault policy task force. The UTPD takes violence against womenand respect for diversity seriously. I'm sure there are mistakes, and bad apples. This is an excellent police force. And open to change..
