The photos of Michael’s work speaks for itself. Going into La Moda for the first time, I had tempered expectations for a project I had envisioned: a 1920s-inspired jazz age suit for a themed celebration. I purchased the cheapest suit I found online, dyed it green, researched the cuts and proportions to the time period, and brought it to La Moda as the highest rated tailor in my local search area. I set up an appointment in order to explain my vision. Meeting Michael, I found he was attentive to the entire list I prepared and I felt not only was he receptive to everything I desired but it was collaborative experience. My initial mindset going into the appointment was I would be fine if the suit became unwearable or damaged given its cost. Michael’s initial consultation flipped that expectation where the suit was significantly altered: the lining and shoulder pads were removed, the front buttons were reoriented and every button was replaced, the vents removed, the jacket length shortened, and the sleeves taken in. The pants were cut slim and made high waisted. Michael was in touch with me several times through out the process to reassure me of the progress and it was considerately turned around quickly in the timeframe I desired for the celebration. La Moda’s prices are comparable with other tailors I’ve used. With what I expected with the extent of my request, which essentially reconstructed an entire suit, the final price was fair. Michael and his team executed beautifully from beginning to end. The look I envisioned not only became possible through their work but was also significantly improved from their design expertise which I lacked. I will definitely return for future projects with Michael at La Moda.

I went to La Moda to have my reception dress altered for my wedding. He is so professional and even gave me suggestions that I didn’t realize I needed or wanted! Took about a week and a half to get my dress back, perfect timing and it was absolutely stunning! I would 10/10 use their services again!
Michael is really talented, and has been doing this work for a long time so he’s very knowledgeable. Brought in a dress that was too big for me, and he fixed it perfectly to my size in less than a day’s time. Prices are great, and alterations are done quickly and efficiently. I’m really glad I can travel to Queens from the city to a great tailor especially since many tailoring places closed because of the pandemic. It’s worth the travel. Highly recommend! Thanks Michael!
