0 stars!!!!!! Do not expect to leave with your potential pet fast!! We were told weekly, for about a month that we would \get an update on the application process\ in a week. We were told many times that \the boss was going over them this week\ Not only did they not update us for weeks on end, when they finally did the puppies that we had bonded with had already been adopted. We for one were going to take both of them, and a family friend already had their sibling. We were also told the day we came in that the neuter date was set for two weeks out, we then called and were told that it was another two weeks. This is a very inconsistent shelter and I do NOT recommend them to anyone. Before you get attached to an animal, I recommend doing some looking and finding some other options. Chances are, your toes will be stepped on and you will come out of it unsatisfied and attached to an animal that you never even had a chance of getting. There are plenty of other shelters in the area that are far more reliable and worth the travel, that don't follow a horribly constructed application process. We have only ever owned shelter pets, and this was by far the most sad, drawn out, unsatisfying adoption experience we have ever had. STEP UP YOUR GAME LEAVENWORTH, SMH!!! **EDIT** Your response alone shows me that you do not pay attention. Cinnamon is the mother and she completed the application before we left that day. My sister submitted the other application for Devi before we left as well. No response needed, just want everyone to see the lack of attention to detail in this shelters staff

I had a great experience here adopting a new pet recently. The facility is exceptionally clean and doesn't smell - this was a surprise to me, as I have been in facilities which are extremely smelly, and anticipated that all humane societies must be the same. I initially enquired about adopting a kitten via email as I wanted to know their COVID policy to ensure safety, and I received a very prompt reply, and was also able to fill out an online adoption application form to speed up the adoption process. I ended up deciding to adopt a sweet 8 month old kitten that I was introduced to - he has the friendliest personality and it is clear to me that he has been treated with kindness and handled lots by staff/volunteers during his time in the shelter, he is not afraid of people in the slightest! My kitten did end up developing an upper respiratory tract infection 6 days after I took him home, but the vet assured me that this is pretty common with shelter pets and that he was otherwise very healthy (he has since recovered). I also love the \pet painting\ I was given when taking my new pet home!

The staff and volunteers are all very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about their animals and facility. The facility is clean and each animal is cared for. Our experience for selecting and picking up a second dog for family went very smoothly. Thank you to everybody involved with the Leavenworth County Humane Society!
