If your builder requires you to work with this design gallery, you need to prepare yourself, today, for an appallingly poor customer service experience, a common theme you’ll find in reading the other low star reviews, and go in to the selection process with eyes wide open and very low expectations. Otherwise, this enjoyable and explorative part of the home building process will be one letdown and headache after another and end up costing you more than you expected. The gallery is not an open showroom; you need an appointment and understand once you step inside you are on the clock. You need to do your own research first, because you certainly cannot count on the supposed expertise of certain staff. In particular, you need to have backup plans set early, because during the process you’ll unexpectedly, but inevitably, learn the selections are discontinued, cost more, or are now on backorder. You need to review your contract thoroughly and multiple times because it will be rife with errors - both on selections and prices. You need to document your conversations with your representative to protect yourself with your builder. You need to ask questions multiple times to make sure you get the right answers and are comfortable you have all the information you need to make informed decisions. You need to make your representative work for you and your time and be very assertive throughout the process.
It was an exciting process to pick everything for our new build. There were couple of hiccups along the way (supply) due to Covid. But our rep, Theresa was very helpful and at the end found something that work.
Kellie at the design studio has caused me ALOT of stress and anxiety with my builder Gehan Homes. She went to fast and made a mistake with my windows that my builder wasn’t willing to reverse. At the DesignStudio obviously types everything in a contract and also take pictures of your selections. My visual selections in the pictures were spot on so props there! But the way the contract was written was incorrect. Now my builder refuses on fixing my actual window issue because the way it was contracted. (Gehan is getting their review too) This whole time I thought adobe windows were a “style” of the window turns out it’s a color. A color that doesn’t match my house color scheme. If you Google adobe windows window types show up not window colors. Now I have Gehan Homes offering me cheap incentives to make it right. I’m still very unsatisfied and very upset that I have to deal with this 15,000 mistake that I’m gonna have to fix later. This is a tough pill for me to swallow. I feel like the design studio needs to step up their game a little more with my builder to make this right other than offering me discounted tile for my restrooms to my builder. I’ll be more than willing to delete this review once the DesignStudio has made this right by showing more integrity with this issue.
