Recommended dishes: pea shoot broth with salted/century egg, sautéed chili chicken, tofu skins with shiitake mushroom filling. Haven’t explored the full menu yet but the dishes listed above are great!! Particularly the pea shoot broth w/ salted & century egg, which was a mainstay of a restaurant I liked a lot which unfortunately closed (jasmine). In the US there tends to be a certain preconception of Chinese food - plenty of cheap takeout places abound. The cuisine has been shaped to “western” tastes as well, so at times when you find places like this the reception isn’t always great. Maybe people don’t expect to pay too much, it’s not the flavor they’re accustomed to, etc. but Chinese cuisine can be just as amazing as any other. Hope you all try it out and keep places like Little Alley going!

Love this spot! Their drinks were very creative, and extremely cool if you like Jay Chou. We tried Shanghai 1984 and Wife, and both were great! For the dishes, we got the rice cake, braised kitchen and the pork soup dumplings. For the appetizer we got the fish. I like the fish the most, so as the rice cake. Things were a little bit on the sweet side and not that authentic. Nonetheless they were delicious so no complaint. The price was a little on the high considering the portion. Averaged to over 50 per person and I am not even a big eater. Good service and atmosphere.

Summary: Very Authentic Chinese restaurant worth trying out. I'm sad to see so many great Chinese restaurants close, so I want to support those that remain. This one is in theory Shanghainese and those dumplings are solid enough to appease a 9 year old that is stranded in the US from Shanghai and desperately missing home. However, I would say that a number of their dishes are clearly from Hunan and Szechuan. They are very well executed, though. The Stir Fried Cumin Lamb does not disappoint. In fairness, I think we ordered a few dishes that are not on the regular take out menu. If you are Chinese, you will know what I mean. You can def get the traditional dishes that you might just want to add, like Pea Leaves in Garlic sauce, etc. I would say that the Eight Jewel Rice Pudding was delicious and extremely Chinese. I totally recommend this dessert. The food is authentic and if you are close by will get you sorted. Def give them a try.
