This place is a little off the beaten path as there are not really any other restaurants around it, but it is one of my absolute favorite places to eat. If you are a fan of comfort food as well as excellent BBQ, trust me, you are going to have a hard time trying to decide what you want to eat. I always tell myself I am going to have the chicken and dressing, but I always end up going back to the pulled pork plate with green beans, mac & cheese and the jalapeno cornbread. They have several BBQ sauces to choose from, but my favorite is the Froggy Bottom which is a tangy Carolina sauce. Can't get enough of it.

Best of the BBQ places downtown. The Blue Plate special is the main option as it is really cafeteria style. Pictured is my favorite of pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans and jalapeno cornbread. Add a drink and \the crack\ or banana pudding and it will 15 but the portions are huge. All the sauces are located at the very front when you walk in, Frog sauce is the way to go as it their take on Carolina sauce.
Been here twice so far, had a BBQ pork sandwich with baked beans and turnip greens. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was laid back. Will return!
I do not know what has happened, maybe you need to get the old cook back? But I ordered from Grubhub, chicken plate. The baked beans were good. The baked potato salad was not good, taste like mayo with celery. The chicken taste baked, there was nothing smoked about it.And I’m not sure what that cakes up salty seasoning was they had on it. When I worked downtown years ago, we ordered every Friday, and it was great. I know good bbq and this is not it.
