I have been a student of Liverpool Art Center since 2018. When I joined I had not created any art since high school. I had always wanted to return to exploring my artistic side, I just didn't know where to start! When you first come the teachers will spend a couple class days assessing where you are in your development as an artist and where your interests lie. From there they will be very supportive in suggesting projects for you to work on that develop your skills and lead to the creation of art you can hang on your walls (or gift to friends!) The balance is to \stretch\ yourself in your techniques while not stepping too far outside of your comfort zone. After just a few weeks you will see a lot of growth in your artistic creations. The teachers and your fellow students will be there to support you along the way, providing tips and guidance, and helping you to find your own unique artistic style. You will be not only joining an art class but also a community: we like to chat during the class, occasionally trade art with one another, and there are annual events where we come together to showcase our work. This year Sandi has been putting together a lot of instructional art videos and during normal years (when we're not in lockdown) there are also extracurricular events for art & communal forms of relaxation (like circle drumming). All in all, my time at LAC has given me the space and resources I needed to grow into an artist. For that I cannot thank Sandi enough!

This is a wonderful place to find you own artistic voice and community. I attended as a teen, every week, all through junior and high school. The space and support it gave me through those formulate years, was a big factor in my own personal development into the person I wanted to be. I hold the memories of my time there, as well as the friends I made, close to my heart. I have never found a place quite like it. The blend of facilitation and teaching that LAC upholds is incredible.

Liverpool Art Center is what I call my place of Zen. Sandi has always been such an incredible teacher and inspiration to all that come in contact with her because of the way she makes you feel. You don’t have to know a thing about art to feel comfortable and fit right in when you enter the studio. My art skills have definitely increased because I always have the opportunity to try new mediums and get professional and friendly structured guidance. Sandi’s newest teacher Jillian is the epitome of patience and kindness and also makes it such a comfortable working creative environment. I have been a student at LAC for over 6 years and I can’t see myself anyplace else. They also have a wonderful teen program that is incredibly special.

The Liverpool Art Center is an amazing place! I’ve been a student since 2018 and I have learnt so much at LAC. Sandi is a great teacher, and so is Jillian. They have taught me so much! The best thing about LAC is that you can work on any medium, at any pace. Sandi and Jillian are always there to help and guide you create a beautiful artwork. I always look forward to my class each week as I get to learn and have a great time at LAC. LAC is INCREDIBLE!!

I participated in LAC's Creative Rhythms Facilitator Training in 2019, with an emphasis on leading community drum circles. I had attended LAC's monthly circles for a couple of years and loved the atmosphere of fun and inclusion Sandi and Dan create for all who attend. I chose to do the training because I want to be able to help create that for people as well; I definitely feel the training prepared me to do so! Sandi is a joy to work with and learn from, and creates a safe space while encouraging growth. Once the pandemic has settled down and we can gather in close proximity again, I look forward to putting my experience into further practice.
