I was here when I was 17 years old and , I'm not sure what these people on bottom are talking about but when I was in for a short time, we were never locked in our rooms, we had snacks all the time, and got to watch movies and shows on tv, also we got to color and make cute crafts to send home , plus we got to go to school and are teacher was real cool !! He was young so we all related to him, I even remember we celebrated birthdays and made tacos...and on the weekends we got to swim in the pool ...and we had water ballon fights!! And commissary had yummy stuff to eat and magazines.. So I came out different and learned something , but the staff I think are chatter boxes so I can see how drama arises from within the department. other then that memories!!

Aloha, so sad that this place is still going, I'm 61 years old now and was in this hell hole more than fifty years ago, I'm so sorry that young people are still being sent here, I left calif at the tender age of 17 for Hawaii and never looked back, hard hard times for a young kid, God bless all who are there or have every been there, in our day there was no gangs, must be so horrible now, I'm so sorry for you all, find me on f.b. if you feel the need to talk..Aloha one of you reached out to me, and I meant to press accept but pressed the wrong one, please write back if you see this so sorry. Please the woman who wrote me please write back , so sorry i hit the wrong button, so want to share with you..

I am really surprised that Centeral has been open almost one hundred years. I was in and out of there for only two years (87-89) and I knew I never wanted to go back. The fact that kids today or more violent I do feel for the staff in their struggles to help them
