can not say enough good things about this cute little place! Food and service was perfect. Highly recommend the schnitzel and DO NOT SKIP DESSERT!! We took 2 desserts home as we were too full to eat them there, and they were amazing. 10/10 will eat there again!

It has a nice, avaince! Cozy atmosphere, nice German music, & excellent servers! It's a unique experience that will take you back to a much simpler, time. The food is well prepared and my order was filled when I returned to my table to freshen-up. The waitress was very kind & attentive! She checked on me a number of times to make sure I was satisfied with my meal & the service. I eat here often & have never had a bad experience. I highly recommend Gasthaus German Restaurant!
This used to be a special treat, we didn’t go often and when we did it was all it was supposed to be. An authentic German atmosphere and food was awesome. Something has happened, and it’s a shame, we went tonight and arrived at opening, 6:00 pm. At 7:00 pm we had devoured our one basket of bread and were watching other tables done and getting to go boxes, we mentioned to our waiter about our order and he brought more bread along with apology, finally an hour and half into our wait the food arrived and sadly we went through same ordeal with our dessert order and we had to cancel the dessert and ask for our check.Sad to see another great place go.
My wife and I first tried Gasthaus about 5 years ago on a recommendation from a friend and have been hooked ever since. It’s honestly the best restaurant in Louisville hands down. The food is absolutely amazing, the owners/staff are just as amazing. There’s a reason they have been in business since 1993, high quality across the board! If you like hearty, fresh, generous portions, you won’t be disappointed. Save room for desserts, they are out of this world!
Wow! I have eaten some good German food in Germany, but never as good of German food in the US anywhere. The veal Weiner Schnitzel is amazing!!! Family owned and run by a German family; mom, dad, son and 1 or more daughters. AUTHENTIC German small place, a truly can't miss place if you're anywhere in the area. Open for in-person dining during the pandemic too.
Well done all around. Savory, rich entrees in the traditional German style. Fine beer list. Delicious desserts.
I personally think it's one of the best places to eat in town. From the atmosphere to the food. It takes me right back to the time I spent in Germany.
The atmosphere is so fun. We had a really great meal!! I'm not big on dessert but I won't go there and not have something! So good! And the staff was so knowledgeable and accommodating.
