Margaret Fuller was a feminist ahead of her time. Back in the early 1800s women who wanted higher education weren't allowed in Ivy Leagues. Margaret Fuller could debate with the best that Harvard had to offer. Margaret loved writing and travelled in the same circles as Emerson. She would become the first female news correspondent overseas while Italy was in the midst of a civil war. Sadly, she died off the coast of Long Island after being in Italy. The Margaret Fuller House was one of her childhood home and was designed to empower less fortunate women and families. Margaret saw the economic disparity in pre-Civil War Massachusetts when she used to deliver food with her mother as a teen young adult. The Margaret Fuller continues to help financially disadvantaged through their food pantry and other services. They get very good quality donations and is worth the schlep to Cherry Street. The only downside is there are those clients that cheat the food pantry system by holding on to number cards and try to trick the staff. Outside of that it is a long trip from parts of Boston. Wishing East Boston had more places like the Margaret Fuller House.
