The store is clean and they have a decent selection of you are just looking for a card, but none of the workers ever seem to know much about the inventory. Their knowledge of the Keepsake Ornaments is seriously lacking. It's also hard to believe that a chain of 14-15 Hallmark stores doesn't have a linked inventory system. The staff cannot easily check to see if another store has what you're looking for.

The worker's are really nice, but the return policy for Keepsake ornaments is ridiculous. Apparently it is supposed to just be inherent knowledge that keepsake ornaments, even bought as a Christmas gift, cannot be returned. No signs and not told at time of purchase, you apparently just need to know... how a retailer can sell something at Christmas time as a gift and refuse to return it or at least give store credit is just insane to me.

So, I go into a Hallmark store today (Mason location between Kroger & Half Price Books)... there is an ornament there I know my son would love (Duck Dodgers!) They only have one left, the one that is on display. I offer to buy that if it is the last one. The salesperson TELLS ME NO, that they won't sell the display until Christmas week. She was also not certain if it would be restocked or not. I told them that they'd make their profit on selling me this one, that they could simply put another one out to sell if they came back in, and they'd be out nothing if it didn't. That was just too much logic for her to wrap her head around. Therefore: it was more important to them to keep an item on display to advertise an item THEY DO NOT HAVE than it is to make the revenue from it. I know that this is small-potatoes from a revenue standpoint.. but the principle seems really stupid. (and salt on the wound: no offer to find me one elsewhere, either.)

The employees were extremely rude and talking about customers right in front of that customer. Did not seem knowledgeable about the purchase or return process. Not the best selection. Almost looks like the store is going out of business with numerous empty shelves.
