I probably could have avoided a c-section if it weren’t for the on-call delivery doctor (really wish I remembered his name so you can avoid him). I was already 8cm dilated by the time we arrived at labor and delivery, and out of fear I asked if it was too late to get the epidural. The on call doctor looked SO frustrated and said I probably don’t have time and just left the room. The nurse (she was so sweet) went ahead and called for the anesthesiologist and they were able to quickly administer the epidural. The doctor came back in and checked me REAL QUICK, like it didn’t feel like he even checked me, and said that I was ready to push. So, I started pushing. An hour later, the nurse said she really didn’t think I was ready to push so she checked me, and she was right - I was still only 8 cm and was not ready. I ended up swelling down there from all the pushing, baby’s heart rate started dropping, and then... c section. I recognize this was partly my fault for asking for the epidural (I did not insist, I literally just asked), but I really feel he could’ve done a more thorough job checking me. My husband was completely puzzled by his lack of concern and thoroughness. I saw him twice, and each time he stayed for less than a minute.

Wonderful healthcare facility perfectly located in the heart of Midlothian. Quick access from 288 and 76 Interstate. The valet service is really friendly and courteous. The volunteers were really helpful too. Very professional employees and very dedicated doctors. Nice and comfortable waiting areas with TV screens and free coffee and water for patient’s family. The chapel is perfect for meditation and praying. The cafeteria was full of good healthy choices. We are really appreciate for having this modern facility in our community. Good job St. Francis Medical Center.

What all incoming ER patients should know is that ER COVID19 patients are not kept separate from non-COVID19 patients. Prior to going to the ER, I was tested for COVID19 and influenza A/B by Family Practice Associates and tested negative for all. Upon arrival at St. Francis everything went well. I was hooked up to an IV and various testing began. The horror of the moment is when a group of nurses, 4 or 5, gathered outside in the hall near my door which was wide open discussing an incoming COVID19 patient. I was able to hear everything and what I heard made me extremely uncomfortable for myself and my husband who was in the waiting room. The next thing I know the patient is directly across from me. By now he is contained in what seems the appropriate \tent\; difficult to describe. However, the door to his room was open at times as staff came and went and mine was left open at times as various nurses went in and out. Twelve hours later I developed a cough and like most of us during COVID, I'm convincing myself it's coincidence and most likely it is. This is my first time ever leaving an online review but this was an experience that I wanted to make others aware of in case you are headed to the ER during COVID19. There is no way to know what type of air filtration system a hospital is using; MERV rating or HEPA. The CDC recommends placing COVID19 patients in an airborne infection isolation room know as AII. Update to above review: What I have learned since my initial visit to St. Francis is that most hospitals across the U.S. put COVID and non-COVID patients together. This is not unusual according to paramedics I spoke with. During my second visit to St. Francis I asked about the air filtration system during the check-in process. The very kind lady's response immediately eased my concerns. Their system uses filtration to keep staff and patients safe.
