Slow Fiber is the best. I get questions about my custom masks all the time (one is selvidge denim, the other is a dope batman comic mask) I love that I'm buying local and that it's sustainable fabrics. I keep thinking about going back there for custom work, if you're into sustainability and you're into fabrics, this is one of the coolest spots on the peninsula.

Great sew shop and so much more! The proprietor, Jaki, is very knowledgeable about mending, sewing and recycling clothes into custom creations of art. She has notions, fabrics, and yarns from sustainable, recycled, eco friendly, and trade friendly sources. So much care has gone into the selection of every beautiful item in her shop. She offers mending parties and sewing classes as well.

Jaki has the best ideas for up cycling your tired garments into something beautiful and fun. She doesn't want to see anything else end up in the landfill when it can have a whole new life! She even unravels gently used sweaters to reuse the beautiful yarns. She has delightful kits to make your blue jeans sparkle with new life. Masks galore too

Jaki and Slowfiber are hidden gems in downtown Monterey! As someone who needs creative support, Jaki offers me not only that, but also great motivation and supplies galore! Her eco focus is so important and sets her apart! When I cannot find something locally or don't wish to order online - always, just always check Slowfiber. A truly unique and special place!

Awesome clothing swaps. Personalized help with my up cycling project (an evening gown I bought at the Salvation Army store from a tip from Slow Fiber). AND a mask that finally fits my face well enough I can wear it comfortably for several hours. If you want to start addressing your dependence on bigbox fast fashion, Jaki and Slow Fiber will guide you.

I discovered slowfiber just before everything closed. I was delighted to get her email that she was busy making masks. I had gone through my stash and was trying to figure out what to do with all that material. I dropped it off. Within a day Jaki got back to me. She is so gracious. Since I didn't need anything we settled up and my acct was credited. Easy peezy. She is a treasure and when everything opens up go in. You will leave with a smile on your face and a new friend.

The mask I purchased from slowfiber is the most comfortable and easy to use mask that I own. It is the third one that I've purchased from three different makers since March 2020, and it is by far the best.

Jaki helped me assemble kits so my fourth graders could hand sew their own masks. Super cool!!!
